The Capers of Rick Devoe Part 1
Way back in '97, Blink was touring Florida. Friend/ manager, Rick Devoe cme to a few of the shows to help Blink out. On one of the shows, Rick decided to sit back and relax, as he had a few beers with the boys. That's when the funny, and interesting part came along.
Blink was playing in a club that was right next door to a male strip club. The strip club was jam packed with men, nearly naked on stage as women jumped up and down as they watched. That strip club's crowd was almost better than the club next door where Blink182 was playing.
Blink stuck there heads out the door as they laughed at the strippers next door. But before they could say, "holy shit look at that motherfucker run," Rick had ran up on stage, had pushed away the other male performer, and was then stripping in front of a group of screaming women. The place was going absolutely crazy!
All that happened before the bouncers grabbed little naked Rick Devoe, tackling him, and through him off the stage.
Blink182 was laughing so hard that they didn't even try to help your manager. The funniest part to them was when Rick started explaining to the bouncers that he was ok, and not crazy, and they didnt have to call the cops. He just was the manager of the band that was performing right next door. Ha ha ha!
The Capers of Rick Devoe, Part 2 The Lex Luther Years
Even further back, in '96, during the tour that they called,"The Shitty Weather Tour," Rick decided to join the band as they toure there first ever international show. Blink was aboot to play for all the Canadian's, up in Quebec. The show was an amazingly huge success, and to celebrate, Rick decided to turn to his good friend,"Beer." Or maybe he should call it,"Oh Fuck, I Just Drank 15 Too Many Beers."
At the end of the show, Rick decided that he wanted to head off to the merchandise stand to see if the people were buying the t-shirts, cd's, etc. A LOTTA people were buying merch, more than Blink expected, but Rick got mad at those who weren't buying anything. He, of course, was drunk, as he climbed up onto the merch table and yelled at all of the leaving kids. But what did he yell...?
What he yelled was, "I am Lex Luthor, am very strong!" Rick is the only one in the world that knows why he yelled something so absurd.
Afterwards, all the kids seemed frightened and confused by what Rick was doin. Rick thought perhaps it was because the language he spoke it in. As we all know, most the people in Quebec speak French. Rick thought of an idea that would make them understand. So as an attempt to get them to understand, he spoke it in Spanish. Of course, that didn't work either, since they don't speak spanish in Quebec. Nobody had any idea what the American man was telling them in English, so what most of them did, was run away!
