The sun shone brightly.  Light streamed through the windows and warmed her face.  She rolled over, content.  A shadow fell on her face.  She groaned.

"Serena, wake up!" Luna's voice demanded.

      "Still tired..." Serena mumbled.

"You are going to be late again if you don't get up right now!" warned Luna.

At that, Serena popped up and rubbed her eyes.  "What!?  Oh no, not again!"  She scrambled out of bed and hurriedly got ready for school.  She ran downstairs, grabbed her waiting lunch, and dashed out the door with Luna hot on her heels.  She dashed back in, snatched a doughnut, and ran back out.

At lunch that day, she was sitting with her friends Amy, Raye, Lita, and Mina.

"I almost overslept again today... Luna is such a lifesaver!" Serena sighed.  Raye and Lita rolled their eyes while Mina giggled and Amy smiled.

"How reliable," said Raye sarcastically.  "That's another reason why I should be leader!  I'm always on time!"

"Oh no, not again!" said Lita.  "Won't you two ever stop arguing?"

Mina interrupted.  "Hey guys, Artemis said something about meeting here after school again... something important to discuss."

"Luna said something like that also..." said Serena.  "I wonder what it's about?"

"We'll find out later," Amy said.  "We better get back to school.  See you this afternoon, Raye, Mina."

      "Yeah, see ya," Raye replied.

The girls got up and headed to their respective schools.

Later that day, they met again in the park.  This time the cats and Reeni accompanied them.

"So what's this all about, Luna?" asked Serena.   "I spent all day wondering about it."

"And probably flunked another test because of it," observed Raye sotto voce.  That earned her a mean look from Serena.

      "Listen.  Stop arguing!" said Artemis.

"I have news that has recently been confirmed," said Luna.  "There is yet another Sailor Scout to be found."

"What?" came from all six girls.  Just then, four more came running up.

"Did you just say what I thought you did?" demanded Trista.  They glanced at the Inner Scouts and nodded, and received a similar response.

"No way," they heard a guy's voice say, as Darien walked up and put his arm around Serena.

"You heard me right.  Let's go someplace to talk... to Serena's room."  The Scouts all headed there.

"Mom, my friends and me are gonna go talk for a while," Serena said.

      "Okay, dear," was the reply.

When the door was safely closed, the girls and Darien were comfortably lounging around, and the cats stretched out, Luna began.

"Okay.  I can understand why this seems hard to accept.  We seem to have all the Scouts for every planet here, right?  But there is one that is not covered."

      "Which one?" asked Amy.

      "Earth," answered Luna.

"But doesn't Darien represent Earth?" asked Amy.

"He's not a Scout.  Serena's position is unique in that she is both Sailor Moon and the Moon Princess.  Darien is the Prince of Earth, not the Scout.  Now, when you Scouts were originally created, Earth hadn't yet been around enough to have an assigned scout.  She has only recently come to light.  We still don't know who it is.  That is everyone's mission.  Keep your eyes open."

      "Hmmm..." murmured Serena.

"Serena's having trouble absorbing this," smirked Raye.

"Raye, why are you picking on me so much for recently?" Serena asked, standing up with her hands on her hips.

"I don't know, maybe it's because you've been klutzier than usual, or dumber than usual, or dopier than usual.  Does it matter?  You're slow, you constantly get crushes on people, you are always eating something, and you are such a crybaby!  How your destiny was ever to be our leader is beyond me!  Frankly you suck as a leader!  I should be a leader... I'm the most qualified here!" Raye burst out.

"Now just wait a minute," began Lita and Mina in unison.  Amy's eyes widened and the others started looking at each other.

"And of course, you can't stand up for yourself because you know it's all true!  You have to get help from the others!" Raye continued.

Serena just glared at her.  There was a glimmer in her eyes.  "If that's the way you feel, fine!  Then leave!  Everybody just leave!"  She threw herself on her bed and started crying.

As they all left, Darien paused at the doorway.  "Serena...." he began.

"Just go away," she sniffled.  He sighed and closed the door.  Luna looked at her.

"Shouldn't you go and explain what's going on?" Serena sniffled.

      "Well," began Luna.

"Besides, I really want to be by myself right now," Serena said quietly, tears still streaming down her cheeks.

As Luna left, Serena just sat there, holding her moon locket in hand, gazing steadily at it.  I hope she doesn't do anything stupid, thought Luna.

At the temple Raye lived in, the girls (and Darien) were all sitting down, continuing the discussion, when Luna rejoined them.

"That was really mean, Raye," said Amy.

Raye turned away from the window, out which she had been looking.  "I know... I haven't really gotten much sleep recently, and she's been moodier than usual.  And you know how exasperating she can be."

"You usually don't make her cry that quickly," said Lita.

"The fact that you continue to fight with her is wrong," observed Amara.

Raye looked at her.  "Yeah, whatever," she muttered as she sat back down.  "Where were we?"

"We were discussing our plans to locate Sailor Earth.  Luna?" said Amy.

"We will be able to locate Sailor Earth by this symbol," she said as she scratched it onto the paper in front of her.  It was a stylized Roman numeral three.  "Also, while your powers all deal with different elements and concepts, hers will be based on the power of Life.  Anything dealing with it will be in her repertoire.  Basically, she will be able to focus the energy on this planet to do what she wants with it."

      "Wow," murmured everyone.

"Umm... I hate to bring this up... but what if it's a guy?" asked Amy.

"How do you come up with that?" asked Michelle.

"All us Scouts are girls," said Hotaru.

"Yeah, but our only representative of Earth right now is Darien.  What's to say there can't be a boy Sailor Scout?" reasoned Amy.

"We will consider the possibility," said Artemis.

"Now, back to the plan..." said Luna.

Serena stared out her window at the moon.  All those years ago... what had it really been like?  It was frustrating living two lives, even more so when your friends didn't believe in you.  Raye is right, she thought.  Destiny or not, I'm not cut out to be a leader.  Why did it have to be me?  I don't want this anymore... never did.  I just want to be a normal person.  I don't want to be questioned every day, don't want to be poked and prodded by talking cats.  There have been no recent events with the Negaverse.  Why must I continue being these alter egos?

She gazed silently at the Moon Locket.  Raye can have this... I don't want this destiny...

In another, darker realm, She watched through her crystal ball.  That's right, Moon Princess.  Doubt yourself.  My plan is working... and its already in your system... through your food... why not use your own planet's resources against you... slightly modified of course... HA HA HA HA Ha Ha ha...

She put the Moon Locket in its special box.  She tied a little note to it, went down the stairs, and left the house.  She proceeded down the street towards Raye's temple.

"Send our new warrior to the planet now!" She commanded.  A nod, and Sordrax was sent on his way.

Raye's head snapped up at the sensation of danger.  She jumped to her feet and ran outside, nearly tripping over a small, jeweled box with a note on it.  She ignored it, searching with her senses as the others followed her.

      "Raye?" asked Mina.

Amy found the box and picked it up.  She read the note.  Her throat suddenly went dry.

"R...." she croaked.  She licked her lips.  "Raye..."

"Shhhh!" snapped Raye.  "I feel something!"

Everyone was looking at Amy now.  Luna recognized the box and felt her blood run cold.   She fainted.

At that, Raye turned around, her glance going from the unconscious Luna, to the box, then to Amy's shocked face.  "What is it?" she asked.

Amy gazed at her.  "It's from Serena," she finally said, then tilted the box.  Everyone recognized the Moon Locket.  "She wrote 'Enjoy.  Bye all' on the note."

      Raye's jaw dropped in surprise.

Serena gazed at the water by the oceanfront, ignoring the tingly sensation that usually told her something bad was about to happen.  What did it matter?  She didn't really care anymore...

Raye sat in a state of shock, staring at the locket in its box.  "I never expected this," Raye said quietly, guiltily.  Everyone's accusing stares turned surprised as Raye began to cry.

"Enough!" said a revived Luna.  "We have to find her!"

      Raye nodded, wiping her eyes.

"Come on!  Split up!  Search everywhere!"

"The waves are so pretty tonight," she murmured to herself.

"Perhaps you should swim in them," came an evil, forbidding voice.

Serena turned in surprise.  A black-haired, black-eyed man in midnight blue fixed his eyes on her.  He raised his hands and grinned.

      Serena gulped.

Samantha gazed steadily at the water, lost in reflection.  Some vacation!  Our hotel room got mixed up, the plane ride dragged, the food was cold at the hotel... and I forgot my CD player!  What a way to start a vacation!  Well at least the waves are a constant... they don't look much different here than in California.  Very pretty night, too...

"My queen has been upset at you, Moon Princess.  You've ruined so many of her plans.  It will be my pleasure to destroy you!" he chuckled.

Oh, no, thought Serena to herself.  My locket!  What am I supposed to do?

She did what every other teenage girl would have done in her place.

      She screamed.

Raye's head snapped around.  As the scream echoed away, all the others caught up to her.

      "That was Serena!"

"It sounded like it came from the waterfront!" said Lita.

      "Let's go!" said Raye.

Samantha turned in surprise, her reverie broken.  What the? she thought.  On seeing the man threatening the girl, she charged towards the scene.

The first blasts of energy hit the normal Serena, knocking her flat on her back.  She screamed in pain.  Over and over, the energy cascaded through her, twisting her, hurting her, draining her energy.  The last thing she saw was a brown-haired, green-eyed girl running up.  Serena fell unconscious.

What am I getting myself into? thought Samantha as she halted over the blonde's unconscious form.  "Leave her alone, jerk!" she said.

"Aaaah, a new play toy to have fun with," Sordrax smiled evilly.

"Yeah, well I play rough!  Come on!" Samantha snapped.  She dropped into her best fighting stance and watched him cautiously.  She jumped aside as Sordrax shot out a crackling energy bolt that hit the already unconscious Serena.

"Hey, punk! You missed! You couldn't hit the broad side of a barn!  Try again!" snapped Samantha.

The other girls skidded around the corner, seeing Serena unconscious on the ground with another girl defending her against a villain.

Raye glanced at the others.  "What now?"

Lita looked at her.  "Now we save Serena!  JUPITER CRYSTAL POWER!"

      "MERCURY CRYSTAL POWER!"

      "MARS CRYSTAL POWER!"

The rest of the girls followed suit.

When they were ready, Sailor Mars shouted, "Hey there!"

Sordrax turned his head fractionally.  "Aaah, the rest of the brats have arrived.  Now I can continue my mission.  It really has been fun, but..."

SMACK!  Samantha's punch hit him hard.

Sordrax glared at her.  He raised his hands.  All the Sailor Scouts saw the blast of energy hit the girl, knocking her back into Serena's form, pushing them both over the edge of the walkway into the water.  Bubbles rose to the surface, and then trailed off.

"NO!" screamed Sailor Mars.  The Sailor Scouts rushed over, but before anyone could reach the water, they were all under attack by Sordrax.

Samantha dragged Serena's unconscious form with her, paddling under the walkway until she was a good distance away, then pulling herself and Serena out of the water.

In the meantime, the Sailor Scouts were having a bad time of it.  They could barely start launching their attacks before the energy-robbing blasts hit them, weakening them drastically every time.  Luna glanced around.  This is bad.  Her eyes caught sight of a dripping Samantha and Serena down the walkway.  Now why wasn't that girl weakened? she thought.

A rose hit the ground.  Tuxedo Mask stood nearby.  He, too, became a target of the energy draining attacks.

Luna made tracks down towards the wet pair.  She saw the other girl look up, saw the blazing hatred in her eyes, saw the symbol on her forehead!  A stylized Roman numeral three!  Luna walked over, did a flip, and Serena's Moon Locket fell to the ground.

"Huh?" said Samantha, looking at the black cat with a crescent moon on her forehead.  "What's that for?"

"For her," Luna said, indicating Serena.

Samantha blinked in shock.  A talking cat?

"She is Sailor Moon.  Those are the rest of the Sailor Scouts over there, fighting that Nega-villain.  We were only missing one Scout, and you are her!"

"What?  Sailor Moon?  No way!" said Samantha.

"Sailor Moon is needed to fight with the others, and they need your help too.  You are Sailor Earth!" said Luna, and did another flip to drop a pearl wand with the symbol on it.

"Whoa... hang on a second!  You've got the wrong girl!  I'm not a Sailor Scout!" Samantha said.

"Then how do you explain the symbol on your forehead?" asked Luna.

Samantha glanced at the water, at her reflection.  She reached up and touched the symbol.  "Huh?  Whoa..."

Luna glanced back.  The Scouts were all but beaten.  She turned back.  "Please hurry, Sailor Earth!  We don't have much time!"

"Okay, assuming you are right, how do I use this thing?" Samantha asked, holding her rod.

"Hold it up and say 'Earth Crystal Power'!  Just remember, your powers deal with life!" urged Luna.

Samantha raised the wand.  "EARTH CRYSTAL POWER!!"

Mars raised her head weakly.  This is my fault! she reflected.  If only I had not upset Serena so...   Another bolt came her way... and just as it was about to hit her, a glowing disc intercepted it, forming back into a familiar looking tiara that immediately flew back to... Sailor Moon!  Everyone's head turned.  Standing next to Sailor Moon was another Scout.  Her outfit was white and violet with violet ribbons, and she had long brown hair.

"I don't think so, pal!" said Sailor Earth.  As Sailor Moon, revitalized and herself again, aimed the Moon Scepter at Sordrax, she again called on her power.  "EARTH LOVE REFRESH!" she said, and a mist drifted over the rest of the Scouts, refreshing their energy.

"Yeah!" said Sailor Jupiter.  Sailor Moon was holding off the energy bolts with her Moon Scepter, and Sailor Earth glared at Sordrax.

"My grandmother can fight better than you... and she's been dead three years!" shouted Sailor Earth as all the scouts prepared to attack.  Sordrax blinked and dropped, preparing to launch another blast.

Sailor Moon beat him to the punch.

      "MOON SPIRAL HEART ATTACK!"

Suddenly, the energy from the Moon Scepter surrounded him and imploded.  His vision blurred from the pain of the impact, he dropped to the ground.

Sordrax looked up just in time to see every Sailor Scout's attack launched at him at once.

When the energy and smoked cleared away, all that was left of Sordrax was a shadow traced onto the wooden boards of the walkway.

Sailor Mars glanced at Sailor Earth.  "Great timing."

      "Yeah."

"Well, my name is Samantha Mason, and I'm from the USA.  I like scuba diving, hiking, basketball, fighting, and heavy music.  What about you guys?" Samantha asked.

They were all lying about in Serena's room.  As they relaxed, Raye looked over at Serena.  "Serena," she began.  The room went silent.

Serena looked at her.  "Yes, Raye?"

"I'm sorry," Raye said.  Jaws dropped.

"Did Raye just apologize?" asked Lita in disbelief.

"Well, considering the strange things that have happened today, it's not a total surprise," said Amy quietly.

"By the way, how are you feeling, Serena?" asked Mina.

"Like normal.  Whatever was wrong with me went away when Samantha here refreshed my energy.  So, I'm my regular self again!" said Serena cheerfully.

"Good.  I think I prefer the ditzy, cheerful you to the moody, depressed you," said Raye, smiling.

Samantha was shaking her head.  "What have I gotten myself into?"

The warmth of the sun on Samantha's face slowly woke her up.  She glanced around the room.  Yes, she was in her bed in the hotel room with her family.  She yawned, stretched, and jumped out of bed to begin her morning routine.

After breakfast, she was on the balcony, looking at the beach, when her mother joined her.

"You all packed up and ready to go home?" her mother asked.

      "Mm-hmm," nodded Samantha.

"Sam, is something wrong?  You've been real quiet lately," her mother said.

A sigh.  "Nothing," she said quietly.  She still hadn't figured a way to get her parents to let her stay in Tokyo.

"Is it the new friends you've made?  I can understand you want to stick around, but we'll be back next year," her mother said.

"I don't want to leave, Mom.  They need me here," Samantha said.

      "Why?" her mother asked.

"Well..." she trailed off.  How to explain she was a Sailor Scout?  Luckily, her father saved her.

"Hey girls, let's hit the beach one more time before we leave," he said with a smile.

Samantha sighed and nodded as her mother patted her arm and walked out with her father.

      She went to change.

Samantha was sunbathing when she caught sight of a familiar set of long pigtails.  She jumped up.

      "Hey, Serena!" she called.

Serena turned when she heard her name.  She was with Amy, Raye, Mina and Lita.

      "Hey!" she waved back.

Samantha rushed to join the group.

"I have a problem, guys," Samantha said glumly after greetings were exchanged.

"Still haven't gotten your parents to let you stay here?" asked Amy.

"I can't think of any other way to do it other than reveal my Sailor-self to them," Samantha sighed.

"You can't do that," said Serena softly.

"What if it's the only way?" asked Samantha.

"I'm sure there's another way," said Luna, lounging on Serena's shoulder.  "We just have to find it."

The magical trace Sordrax had cast on Sailor Earth showed up in the ball.  She examined the girl's family closely.  I'd better find out what I can before the spell wears off, She thought.  If I can take this Sailor Earth out quickly, before she develops into a pain like the other Sailor Brats, it'll make it that much easier to get that dratted Moon Princess!  Of course, once I know what's going on...

Samantha's brother snuck up on her and her friends with a pail of water behind him.  He was Samantha's junior at 10 years old, and he worshipped anything he could find on the Sailor Scouts (like many kids around the world).  He got closer.

"I just don't know," Samantha sighed.  "I want to stay here, but..."

Just then, the bucket of water splashed all over the girls.

"Aaah!  Timmy!  You little creep!" Samantha gasped.

      "Hey!" gasped Serena.

      "Little brat!" snapped Raye.

"If I wanted to be wet I'd be swimming!" Lita and Mina said almost in unison.

"Good thing my watch is waterproof!" Amy said.

Luna just shook herself out as Samantha began chasing her laughing little brother.

The scene replayed itself in the ball.  Hmmmmm...

Samantha gave up, watching him scamper away.

Just then her mother approached the group.  "Excuse me girls, but Samantha's not telling me something, and it pertains to why she wants to stay here.  Might you girls know what it is?"

      "Well, umm," began Serena.

      "Very smooth, Serena," whispered Raye.

"It is rather important," Serena began, shooting a mean look at Raye.  "But it's a secret."

"What is it?  I'm afraid I can't let her stay if I don't know why she should," Samantha's mother said as Samantha rejoined the group, catching Serena's eyes.

"Why can't I?" asked Samantha quietly.

"Honey, if there isn't some real important reason, your father and I see no reason to have you stay here.  We are a family, after all," her mother said.

The girls looked at each other in desperation.

"We've got to think on it for a little while at the cafe," Serena said, pointing.  "I could really use some cake right now."  Serena rubbed her belly.

"Actually, that's a good idea," Samantha said.  Her eyes went to her mother.

"Okay dear, but don't be all day at it," she said cheerfully, waving her on.  She walked away.

      "Great, just great," muttered Samantha.

Timmy was working hard on a sand castle when he saw something funny.  As he watched, a lady three towels away glared right at him.  There was an inverted, black moon on her forehead.  He knew where he'd seen that before.  His mind went back to his clippings of papers and magazines.  His jaw dropped and he started to tremble.  He got up and ran.

As he ran past his parents, getting sand all over them, his mother called out.

"Timmy?  What's wrong?" she called as a lady rushed by, chasing after him.

      "Hey!" his father shouted.

Timmy just kept running.  He darted behind a bush in a nearby park and crouched down, trembling.

"Ah-ha!  There's my little friend," an evil feminine voice said.  He felt energy surround him and lift him off the ground.

"What is the meaning of this?  Put down my son!" said Timmy's father and both parents skidded to a halt behind her.  She turned and threw Timmy at them.  The energy field expanded to trap them all.

      Timmy was crying desperately.

      "HELP!!!  SAILOR MOON!" he yelled.

"Timmy..." his mother began, also frightened.

"Please…  If you are really real... help..." and he dissolved into frightened tears.

Serena and Samantha both heard the shout at the same time.  They stopped and looked at each other.  The other girls all looked in the direction it came from.

      "That was Timmy," gasped Samantha.

"How would he know?" asked Serena.

Samantha gave a brief grin.  "He worships Sailor Moon.  He knows everything that has ever been reported about the Sailor Scouts...including the news about Sailor Earth... and if he's shouting for you..." she trailed off, a worried expression on her face.  Their eyes met.

      "Oh no," said Serena.

The girls all took off for the commotion.

They stopped behind the crowd and climbed up a tree so they could see what was going on.  An evil Nega-creature had Samantha's family!  Serena glanced at Samantha.  White-hot rage showed in her features.  Serena looked around, examining the tree.  No one should see us up here, she thought.  She glanced at Luna and Artemis.  They nodded.

"Okay, let's do this!" Serena said to the others.  "MOON COSMIC POWER!"

      "MERCURY CRYSTAL POWER!"

      "MARS CRYSTAL POWER!"

      "VENUS CRYSTAL POWER!"

      "JUPITER CRYSTAL POWER!"

      "Damn straight," snapped Samantha.

      "EARTH CRYSTAL POWER!"

Timmy kept sobbing.  "Help us, please..."

"Enough!" the thing commanded.  Timmy's parents were stricken.

A bolt of crackling energy launched out, penetrating the energy field and hitting Timmy hard.  He faded from consciousness.

"Hey!" said Timmy's father as his mother bent to hold her son, tears in her eyes.  "Why are you doing this to us?"

"I said shut up!" the creature cried out.  Another bolt crackled towards them.

"EARTH LOVE SHIELD!" cried Sailor Earth.

The bolt impacted on the energy field as the crowd backed off.  The Sailor Scouts took up protective positions in front of Samantha's family.  Her parents looked at each other in astonishment.

"I am Sailor Moon, fighting for-"

A bolt flew towards her.  Sailor Moon jumped sideways to avoid it.  "I guess it doesn't want to chat," said Moon.

"Good," said Sailor Earth angrily.  "I don't want to either!"

She charged the creature, dodging bolts and darting in to land a punch.  She was promptly kicked backwards by an energy bolt hitting her directly.   She shook her head and regained her feet.

"VENUS LOVE CHAIN ENCIRCLE!" cried out Sailor Venus.  Energy whipped around, but the explosion didn't seem to faze the creature.

It turned on Sailor Venus.  As it raised its hands, a rose impaled itself in the creature's palm.

      "Tuxedo Mask!" exclaimed Sailor Moon.

Now the creature turned to face Tuxedo Mask.   Crackling energy launched towards him, fully twenty to thirty bolts of Nega-power.  He jumped gracefully aside, but the energy followed him.

Suddenly, Sailor Earth rolled up in front of him.

"EARTH LOVE SHIELD!" she shouted as the energy bolts again impacted on her screen.  She focused her anger as the energy threatened to punch through, trying to redirect the threatening energy.  The strain was almost too much for her.  She fell to one knee.

Samantha's parents were now just spectators, watching the struggle between the creature and Sailor Earth.

Sailor Moon glanced at Sailor Mercury, who nodded.

      "MERCURY SHINE AQUA ILLUSION!"

      "MOON SPIRAL HEART ATTACK!"

The combined onslaught took the creature's attention away from Earth.  Weakened from the Moon Scepter, dazed by the water, it looked away for the crucial half-second Earth needed.  It stopped concentrating on its energy.

      "EARTH LOVE REFLECT!"

Sailor Earth's eyes opened as she sent the creature's energy back to it with a huge explosion.  The field around her family shimmered and disappeared.  The creature fell to its knees.

Sailor Mars smiled to Sailor Jupiter.

      "MARS CELESTIAL FIRE SURROUND!"

      "JUPITER SPARKLING WIDE PRESSURE!"

The resultant explosion caused much of the crowd to duck out of the way, enabling the Sailor Scouts to grab Samantha's family (Samantha herself scooped up her little brother) and leave without notice.

The smoke cleared, and the creature was toast.  Its shattered form disintegrated in the wind.  The crowd cheered, and slowly began dissipating.

Back in Samantha's hotel room, Sailor Earth slowly set Timmy on his bed.  Then she concentrated.

      "EARTH LOVE REFRESH!"

Timmy blinked his eyes open as the mist revitalized everyone.  He sat straight up as he realized who was standing in his hotel room.

"The Sailor Scouts!" he gasped with joy.  "Did you guys get that thing?"

Sailor Moon nodded.  "Yes we did, Timmy."

Timmy and both parents' jaws were agape.

"H-how did you know my name?" stuttered Timmy.

Sailor Earth moved forward.  "Can the three of you keep a big secret?  You will have to, to avoid what just happened."

"You're the new Scout, Sailor Earth right?" asked Timmy.

"Yes, now, can you keep a secret?"

      All three nodded.

"We know your name, Timmy, because...." she trailed off and willed herself back to normal.

Timmy and both parents gasped, as Sailor Earth became Samantha's swim-suited form.

"...I'm your sister," she finished.  She looked at her parents and gave a little smile.  "I told you it was important."

      "Then... then..." Timmy gulped.

The other five Scouts smiled and transformed back to normal.

Timmy blushed deep red.  "I-I'm sorry," he said, feeling very small.  "I shouldn't have gotten you all wet."

"It's okay, Timmy," said Serena.  She giggled.  "If I can tolerate Reeni, there isn't a thing you can do to upset me!"

      "Uhh, okay..." he trailed off.

"I guess that's a good enough reason... maybe we should talk to some of your parents," Samantha's mother said.

Samantha just smiled and rolled her eyes.

All In A Day's Work

She was walking down a long hallway.  There were doors every ten feet, enough so it could be confusing, but she seemed to know exactly where to go.  She stopped in front of a door and looked through the glass at the girl within.  This girl was dressed similar to her, and was practicing moves similar to her own... she saw this other girl, who had short dark hair and who resembled her, break out some attack moves that she could only dream about.  Then the girl turned, and she was startled.

She was looking at her own face, even though the rest of the girl was different.  A white light expanded outwards upon their gaze linking up, surrounding both girls.

Samantha woke up in a cold sweat.  The sun was streaming in her window, warming her face.  She glanced about her room in Serena's house.  Her gaze rested on her clock.  It was a weekend, and about 9 in the morning.  She stretched and began her wake-up routine.

When she was dressed and awake, she headed downstairs to greet Serena's family.  Serena was, predictably, still asleep, and Samantha enjoyed her breakfast.

It was almost noon before Serena staggered downstairs in her pajamas, trailed by Luna.  As Serena eagerly began tearing into her breakfast, Samantha looked thoughtfully at Luna.

"I had an interesting dream last night," she said.

      "You did too?" asked Luna.

"Yeah...whaddya mean, 'too'?  Did you have an interesting dream also?" questioned Samantha.

"Mmm... both of us," mumbled Serena through her food.

"I think we need to get everyone together," said Luna seriously.  "These kind of dreams sometimes means there's another Scout to be found... although I can't imagine who."

Samantha met Serena's gaze with raised eyebrows.  She shrugged.  Samantha got up to make some phone calls.

As the girls and Darien gathered, Samantha considered what had been different about the dream last night as opposed to her normal recurring dreams.  Luna and Artemis beginning the meeting abruptly brought her back to reality.

"Several of us have been plagued by dreams lately, the type we usually get before encountering another Sailor Scout.  They have an interesting, unfinished feel about them, like something is not quite complete," said Luna.

Amy already had her computer out.  "Another Scout?  What representation would this one be?"

      "I don't know," said Luna.

Samantha started as it abruptly all fell into place.  "No way," she whispered.

Luna and Artemis looked at her.

      "What is it?" asked Artemis.

"Well, you know how I've been practicing and have pretty much reached the limit of my powers, and how you've all expected me to have more than the four I do, be more powerful than I am?" Samantha asked.

"Yeah, you don't seem to be as much as you should be," Mina commented thoughtfully.  "Why?"

"Well, I have a pretty good feeling what representation this Scout will be," said Samantha, "after reviewing my memories and the interesting, different tone of a recurring dream I always have."

      "What?" asked Lita.

      "Earth," said Samantha quietly.

      "What!?" everyone said at once.

      "But you're Earth," said Raye.

      "Yeah," said Lita.

Amy looked thoughtful, and surprisingly, so did Serena.

"Maybe I was seeing your dream last night myself," said Serena.  "I know where you are going with this.  Two girls are on different sides of a door, in similar situations, looking similar in all respects, one darker, and one lighter.  Then both faces are revealed and they are identical faces."

"Yeah," said Samantha quietly.  "I am a twin, but my twin was kidnapped when we were very young.  I don't remember much about it, but it is conceivable that my twin is near and she has the other half of my powers."

“I need to find the circumstances of her kidnapping.  Might that have been the Negaverse?" Amy asked.

"Yes," said Samantha.  "It was highly unusual, but that's all I remember.  By the way, her name was Melanie, that is, if this is what's going on."  Samantha was clearly excited at the thought of being reunited with her twin.

"I don't know about this," said Serena, to everyone's surprise.  "Remember?  One darker, and one lighter?  Samantha's already proven she is the lighter."

"I think that impression reflects the nature of my powers versus the nature of hers," said Samantha, "not her outlook."

"Well, I'll look up what I can about this situation," said Amy.

"I will consult the fire and see what I can learn," said Raye.

"And the rest of us will keep our eyes open for this other girl," said Amara.

      "Good," said Artemis and Luna.

Melanie walked down the street.  She had her mission, given to her by her mistress.  Her mind went back to the conversation.

"You are Sailor Dark Earth, enemy of the Sailor Scouts," her queen had said, illuminating the crystal ball.  "Your mission is to hunt down the Sailor Scouts and kill them."

"Yes, my queen," she had replied.

"This is your destiny...." her queen had said.

"I will not fail you, my queen," she had answered before departing.

All Melanie had ever known was the Negaverse.  Her earliest years were a blank, followed by a sudden awareness and intense training and development of her powers.  And now it was time to prove herself worthy.  She had been given descriptions of the Sailor Scouts, and tips on how to get their attention.

"Time to find some innocent kids to beat up on," she murmured evilly to herself.

The girls were at the mall, in the food court, where they were relaxing after a hard day of shopping.  Serena was predictably eating as the others lounged around, keeping an eye on Reeni, who was happily dancing around.

      "Mmmm," murmured Serena contently.

"Well, at least it's a nice day out," said Mina.

Samantha sat up as a funny feeling alerted her.  The others were looking around also, including Reeni.

Reeni turned and started running back to Serena, who had actually stopped eating as the feeling had come.  She was about ten feet away when a hand grabbed her.

The girls all jumped to their feet as a girl in an all-black Sailor Scout outfit grabbed Reeni.

"Hey!!" shouted Serena.  "Let her go!"

"No, I don't think I will. I need this little brat," the girl said.

Samantha started at the voice, so similar to her own.  She could only stare in shock as the girl continued.

"Pass the word.  I am Sailor Dark Earth, and I am looking for the Sailor Scouts!"

And with that, Sailor Dark Earth left, still holding a crying Reeni.

      Samantha fainted.

"You were right, Serena," said Samantha at the emergency gathering of all the girls.  "And now, my evil twin has Reeni!  How are we going to find her?"

"I daresay that if she gets upset enough, Reeni will make it surprisingly easy to find her," Serena said dryly.

      "How?" asked Samantha.

Darien chuckled.  "When Reeni throws a temper tantrum, all her power gets released in a large energy blast.  It's unmistakable."

      "So we wait?" asked Raye.

"Let's go outdoors... like to the park.  And let's keep our eyes on the skies, ok?" said Trista, worriedly.

      "Let's do it," said Artemis.

"So you like the Sailor Scouts, little girl?" asked Sailor Dark Earth.  "I like them too... or will, after I destroy them all!"

      "No!" cried Reeni.

"Aww, the little brat likes Sailor Moon, huh?  I'll kill her first!" said Sailor Dark Earth.

Reeni just sat there, trembling.  Tears welled up in her eyes, and she began to cry.

"Shut up brat!" snapped Sailor Dark Earth.

"NO!" Reeni screamed as her eyes lit up.

"What the..." trailed off Sailor Dark Earth.

A beacon of pure energy blasted skyward, causing most people to stop and stare.

      "Look!" said Lita.

"I've got her coordinates!" said Amy, typing on her microcomputer.

      "Let's go!" said Serena.

Simultaneously, all the girls raised their hands to the sky.

"Stop this, you little brat!" she snapped, staggering closer through the energy to try and knock Reeni unconscious.

"Hold it!" a familiar voice said.  "I am Sailor Moon, defender of the moon, protector of love and justice!  Picking on little kids is evil, and in the name of the moon, I will punish you!"

      "Yay!" said Reeni.

Sailor Dark Earth casually regarded the scouts.  All but the one in purple were glaring at her.

"Yeah, whatever," she said casually.  "I'm quaking with fear."

"You will be!" promised Sailor Jupiter.  "JUPITER THUNDER DRAGON!"

Sailor Dark Earth casually absorbed the energy of the attack.

"Ha!  Try this on for size!  EARTH ANGER GROWTH!"

A nearby rosebush sprouted long, thorny vines that wrapped around Sailor Jupiter, choking her and tearing into her skin painfully.  She collapsed as the vines kept tightening their hold.

"Jupiter!" exclaimed Sailor Moon.  "You Nega-creep!  You'll pay for that!"

"MERCURY ICESTORM BLAST!" cried Sailor Mercury.

As the freezing shards impacted around her, Sailor Dark Earth retaliated.  "I like this one better!  EARTH ANGER STRIKE!"  She made a punching motion upwards with her glowing fist.

A huge fist of rock smashed into Sailor Mercury, launching her upwards and backwards.  She hit the ground, unconscious.

Sailor Moon's jaw dropped.  This wasn't good.

"MARS CELESTIAL FIRE SURROUND!" called Sailor Mars, blasting the rings of flame towards Sailor Dark Earth.

Sailor Dark Earth was actually hurt by that one.  She glared at Sailor Mars.  "EARTH ANGER BLAST!"

A fissure ripped open beneath Mars' feet and lava and burning steam exploded around her, burning her badly as she fell, shocked.

      "VENUS LOVE CHAIN ENCIRCLE!"

The impact of the chain hurt also.  Sailor Dark Earth pointed both hands at Sailor Venus.

      "EARTH ANGER SWARM!"

Thousands of energy bolts in the shapes of animals began impacting into Venus.  Again and again, she was badly wounded.  She fainted.

A rose hit the ground.  The remaining Scouts, with the exception of Sailor Earth who was frozen with shock, regrouped behind Tuxedo Mask.

Sailor Dark Earth grinned as she focused again on multiple targets.

"EARTH ANGER SWARM!" she shouted again and again.  The energy blasts dropped Sailors Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto unconscious.

      "EARTH ANGER STRIKE!"

Tuxedo Mask got drilled.  He hit the ground with a horrifying snapping sound, his head at a strange angle to his neck.

      "NO!!!!" screamed Sailor Moon.  "DARIEN!!"

"Aww, did I break your man?  The only one left besides your unconscious friends is the dumb one over there.  Now I will kill you, Sailor Moon!" laughed Sailor Dark Earth.

Sailor Moon just looked up in shock, cradling Tuxedo Mask's body in her arms.  She was conscious of Reeni's crying, and of Sailor Earth's sudden awareness of what was going on.

Sailor Dark Earth pointed her hands at Sailor Moon.

      "EARTH ANGER SWARM!"

      "EARTH LOVE SHIELD!"

Suddenly, Sailor Dark Earth noted the other scout in purple jumped forward.  The bolts of the swarm impacted harmlessly on the shield of energy the other scout had put up.  This, then, was the other Sailor Earth.

Samantha was boiling with rage at seeing her friends, and at her own inexplicable weakness.

      "EARTH LOVE DARK!"

The purple beam of crackling energy connected to Sailor Dark Earth, dropping her to her knees as Sailor Earth drained her lifeforce.  I will kill her! she thought.  Another voice in her mind:  But she's my twin, she argued with herself.  But she hurt my friends and Reeni.  A valid point... But I can restore that...

Sailor Earth cut off her most potent attack.  Sailor Moon looked up in surprise, then acceptance.  She would have to do it.  It was too much to ask Sailor Earth to destroy her twin, evil or not.

Sailor Dark Earth was gasping for breath as the battered and bruised Sailor Scouts began regaining consciousness.

"Why?" she demanded, gazing at the ground as she struggled to regain herself.

      Sailor Moon paused.

"Why didn't you finish it?" gasped Sailor Dark Earth to Sailor Earth.

No!  She isn't!  Again those dratted Scouts had to mess it up!  She turned and ordered another of her minions sent.  She glared at her ball, fuming.

Sailor Earth gazed steadily at her twin.

"Look at me carefully," she said.

Sailor Dark Earth weakly looked up and gasped.  Sailor Earth looked exactly like her!  How?

"We are twins.  You were kidnapped by the Negaverse when we were very young," said Sailor Earth.

"I don't believe you!" snapped Sailor Dark Earth.  "All my memories are of the Negaverse, my home!"

"Are you sure?" asked Sailor Earth sadly, tears in her eyes.

The now conscious scouts hovered over Tuxedo Mask's broken body.

"Sailor Moon, what are you waiting for?" hissed Sailor Mars.

Sailor Moon put up one hand.

"I... I..." said Sailor Dark Earth.  "No!  You lie!  It's not possible!"

"I'm your twin," said Sailor Earth.  "I can't lie to you."

Sailor Dark Earth knew, with a sinking certainty, that she was right.

"Trust me," said Sailor Earth quietly.

      Their gazes met.

White crackling energy suddenly linked the two, as their minds were combined, as memories were restored.  In a sudden purple flash, the Nega-energy left the area.  The Sailor Scouts gasped.  Neither girl had a Scout outfit on, and both had the symbol glowing on their foreheads.

Melanie looked up, tears flowing down her cheeks.  She surveyed the damage she had done, the unconscious form of Tuxedo Mask.

"I'm sorry," she managed to say before she collapsed in sobs.  Samantha put her arms around her twin.  They sat like that for several minutes.

The scouts all relaxed, with Sailor Moon crying over Tuxedo Mask.  Samantha had just helped Melanie to her feet when there was a pink flash of energy behind them.  They both turned.

Another Nega-villain hung there in midair.

"Well, now that you both now the truth, I shall have to destroy you!" the thing said.

The Scouts jumped erect.  They were all badly hurt, but ready to fight.  However, Samantha and Melanie were quicker.

      "EARTH-LOVE CRYSTAL POWER!"

      "EARTH-ANGER CRYSTAL POWER!"

Their new Scout forms replaced Samantha and Melanie.  Samantha's outfit altered slightly.  Her ribbons became pink as she became Sailor Earth-Love.

Melanie transformed into a Scout whose ribbons were purple, and the rest of her outfit was pink.  She became Sailor Earth-Anger.

The twins stood side by side.

"Let's rumble, dirt bag!" said Sailor Earth-Love.  She concentrated, drawing out all her chaotic emotions and concentrating them into one.

"I know who I am now," said Sailor Earth-Anger, "I know how I have been hurt and deceived.  You will pay!"

      "EARTH LOVE DARK!"

      "EARTH ANGER SWARM!"

The combined might of the two sisters brought the thing to its knees just that quickly.  Right before Sailor Earth-Love's attack would kill the thing, there was a sudden additional input.

      "MOON SPIRAL HEART ATTACK!"

      And it was over.

Sailor Earth-Anger endured the angry, condemning stares as she examined Tuxedo Mask's body.

All Sailor Moon could do was cry.

The girls waited in the tense silence, angry glares occasionally raking over Sailor Earth-Anger.   She just looked at them.

"I got this," said Sailor Earth-Love.  "EARTH LOVE REFRESH!"

As the energy replenished the Scouts, Sailor Moon blinked, and used her own power.

      “MOON HEALING ACTIVATION!”

The white glow expanded to Tuxedo Mask's body, and he suddenly blinked his eyes as he was healed completely.

The emotion and stress of finding each other suddenly overwhelmed both twins, and their Scout outfits dissipated as they collapsed, unconscious.

Melanie awakened slowly, unaccustomed to comfort.  She was lying next to her twin in her twin's bed.  The soft fluffiness of her surroundings lulled her to complacency.

"Well, at least one of you is awake now," said Serena.

The light clicked on.  Melanie shielded her eyes and noticed all the scouts- and Darien- in their normal forms.  She sat up, clutching her head.

      "Uhhh," she moaned.

Just then, Serena's mother walked in with a glass of water and some aspirin.  Her timing was perfect, because Samantha started to stir.

When both twins had woken completely up, they sat there with legs dangling over the edge of the bed.

"So this is your long-lost twin?" asked Serena's mother.

      Samantha merely nodded.

"She can stay here too.  We'll get you all set up!" she said cheerfully, leaving.

Melanie looked shocked.  "Where's our parents?" she asked.

"It's a long story," began Samantha.  "I'll fill you in later."

"So, how do we know there won't be another day like today?" asked Raye, still unhappy with Melanie.

"I don't know what to say," said Melanie.

"Oh, leave off, Raye!  If your mind had been under control by the Negaverse, you would have done the same things!" snapped Samantha.

      Raye looked thoughtful at that.

"Well, can you tell us who's in charge of the Negaverse?" asked Serena.  "We still don't know."

"I could've before, but it's all faded now.  All I remember is the darkness," she shuddered.

"Well, you don't have to worry about that anymore!" said Samantha happily.

"Yeah!" said Melanie.  "But I sure have a lot of catch-up learning to do!"

"All part of being a Sailor Scout," said Luna.

"I just know these two are going to use the fact they are twins to their advantage," sighed Mina.

      Samantha and Melanie exchanged glances.

      They grinned.
