| This is a tournament for managers who run divisional & inter-divisional cups that participate in the Cup Winners Cup. The winner of this competition will receive a Cup Winners Cup berth. 2009 Table, Schedule & Results 2004 Results - Winner: Halmstad Swedes (Mark St Clair) 2005 Results - Winner: New Bedford Knights (Brian De Sousa) 2006 Results - Winner: Portland Red Tide (Rob Wilber) 2007 Results - Winner: Alewive FC (Preston McMurry) 2008 Results - Winner: Hounds FC (Tim Drew) 2009 Results - Winner: Mohawks FC (Todd Bevan) Rules: Round one will consist of a single group table including all participating teams. Each team will play the other 13 teams once on a round-robin basis. On the group table, a win will be worth 3 points, a tie worth 1 point, and a loss worth 0 points. During group play, a win will be awarded when a team outscores its opponent by at least 4 points. A tie will be awarded to both teams if neither team is able to manage the 4 point margin required for a win. At the conclusion of group play, the top 4 teams on the table will advance to the Semifinals. Table tie breakers - If two or more teams are tied in the table standings at the conclusion of group play, tie breakers will be applied in the following order: 1) If any team among those tied has won all matches involving the other tied teams, then that team will finish highest of the tied teams. 2) If applicable, reapply tie breaker #1 to the remaining tied teams. 3) Total points scored during all group matches. 4) Point differential (points scored minus points scored against). 5) Total MFLS points scored on the season. The Semifinals will consist of two leg contests to decide the finalists. Teams will be paired based upon their final placement on the group table (1st vs 4th & 2nd vs 3rd). Semifinal winners will face off in the final. Semifinal losers will feature in a consolation match. The Final will be a single match to decide the Silversmith Cup winner. Semifinal & Final tie breakers - Tie breakers will be applied in the following order: 1) goals scored 2) goals allowed by the goal keeper 3) assists 4) +/- 5) clean halves 6) Total MFLS points scored on the season. Notes: Should any manager fail to maintain the cup competition which earned them a Silversmiths berth, they will be disqualified from the tournament and all matches involving the team will be abandoned. Results of matches involving that team will be removed from the standings, and all future matches involving that team will be removed from the schedule. All scores will be final 24 hours before the MFLS deadline for the following week's roster. MFLS scoring corrections after that time will not be counted. |
