Cup Winners Cup Format & Rules |
The Cup Winners Cup is a tournament featuring winners of various cup competitions created by division managers and others at MFLS. There are 16 tournaments participating in the 2007 Cup Winners Cup. The CWC begins week 21 and concludes in week 27. Cup Winners Cup Schedule and Results The tournament consists of head-to-head, two-leg, elimination rounds leading up to a single game Final. Teams will be seeded into a bracket based upon the strength of the cup competition from which they advanced. The ADPR will be used to determine the strength of participating cups. The ADPR of each cup will be determined and fixed at the conclusion of the cup final. If the cup is a division cup, then the division's ADPR will be used. If the cup is inter-divisional, then an ADPR will be calculated based upon all teams which participated in the cup. If two or more cups have the same ADPR, then the team with the higher MFLS rank at the conclusion of week 20 will be the higher seed. Depending on the number of participating cups, the highest seeded teams may receive first round byes. MFLS points will be used directly for scoring purposes thoughout the tournament. In the two-leg contests, the team with the higher aggregate score will advance. Tie breakers for all rounds will be used in the following order; goals scored, goals allowed by the goal keeper, assists, +/-, and clean halves. If a tie remains after these tie breakers, the team qualifying from the cup with the higher ADPR rating will win. If still tied, the team with the higher MFLS points on the season will advance. Scores will be posted and made official the day before the MFLS deadline for the following week's rosters. Any scoring corrections by MFLS that take place during head to head cup competitions will be used only if they are made by that time. Corrections made after that will not be used to change the outcome of a match. Managers who create and run a cup which participates in the CWC will automatically be entered into the Silversmiths Cup. |
