May 2005 - Botswana #2 |
The last time Daisy visited Botswana, she stayed in the capital city of Gabarone. This time she was visiting the Chobe National Park in the north. Take a look at these close animal encounters while on safari! |

Dear Mom and Dad, I am back in Botswana, Africa, this time visiting Chobe National Park in the north. Chobe is known for its elephants; there are more than 60,000+ of them in the park! Sadly this overpopulation of elephants is destroying vegetation and the ecology for the other animals. We also saw lions, impalas, hippos, giraffes, and all sorts of other critters! Love, Daisy |

These photos are so beautiful, there are no captions that can add to this. But Daisy's traveling companion did tell me: "The lionesses had just made a buffalo kill around 11:00 that morning. After lunch, the pride (four lionesses, two adult males and six cubs) lounged in this grassy spot where we came across them at 4:00. The lions were all full so we were not in danger of being dinner. ...Still, if Daisy had fallen off the truck, I would not have gone after her. It was a good thing she stayed put." Good Daisy! |
