REMOVE ENGINE COVERS

If you have a UK car or anywhere else with similar climate, this is easier said than done. They're held on by metal and plastic screws, the plastic ones come out alright but the metal ones are probably rusted in and the strips behind them are probably rotten. I ended up drilling and grinding them out. You may want to remove the bumper as well, this is not essential but you may find the pipework behind it is corroded and in need of some attention, mine was. The main bumper mounts are 2 long bolts (17 spanner I think), they go through the box section, the bumper "plugs" into this and the bolts hold them all together. at the ends of each bumper there are a couple of 10mm bolts when these are undone you are left with the large press studs you can see in the picture. If it's not already, make sure the car is in its final resting-place and jack up the front. | |
