After many, many many months, I have finaly rebuilt my Zephyr 1100. NOT to everyones tastes, but I think she looks just fine!!!
I run a lil' buisness called Crazy Clown Customs & this is the second creation built under that banner. The first being my mate Daves GS550 hardtail chop which eneded up on the front cover of June's 100% Biker.
This is a daily commuter/pleasure machine so there is nothin' fancy & practicality had to remain. Should run real well with that stonkin' 1100 motor....... Certainly sounds good (well, i think she does)
The seat is a bit of an experiment! it is more comfy than it appears, honest
It is covered in high density foam which is an advancement on my original plan of a treadplate seat (too cold in the winter & perhaps a little too hard). Besides, I am 6' 2" so them bars are not so big to me. That's the beauty of building yer own bike, you can make it fit! Saying that, I may pay to get it covered at a later date. Give it a bit of shape & a LITTLE extra padding if needed. Seat covering is outside of my remit i am afraid!
As for the donor bike, it was a good runner in fair condition. Some signs of neglect by an over enthuisiastic owner lacking in either skill and/or the ability to find a good mechanic (i.e. the exhausts!).
Like I said, not everyones cuppa, but I am into chops in a big way & this is my kinda thing.......
Better than the bling billet barges that cost more than a house & never get used.......... |
