Hello!! I am emailing you all to ask you some questions. DAANS has a program called Employment Enhancement (old name: Workplace Workshops) and what we do is we set up certicate courses such as Standard First Aid, WHMIS, CPR, etc. or general information courses such as our mini-conference on "Workplace Issues" for Deaf employees. Most (not all) jobs do require First Aid, WHMIS, etc to maintain their jobs. It is cost-sharing between businesses for courses & interpreters (depends on which course) in a Deaf-friendly environment. The employers who have sent their Deaf employees say it benefits their business. DAANS will be offering Standard First Aid soon. We are trying to update or grow our list of Deaf employees and improve our service because as you know, we still don't have every Deaf person in Nova Scotia. If you and your workplace are not already on our list, it would be very kind of you if you can answer some questions here. You may forward this info to other Deaf people. 1 - Do you work? 2 - Where do you work? 3 - What is the name of business/organization where you work? 5- Do you need to take First Aid, WHMIS, or other courses? 6 - Is it okay if I speak to your boss to explain more about our program? 4 - Can I have your boss' name, work's address, phone number, email (with permission from your boss)? 7 - Any questions/comments you would like to add? VLOG about this will be posted soon. Many thanks for your cooperation, Marie-Josee (MJ) Crawford |
