Jesus, Model of Faith, Model of Humanity
In this last section in our study of Faith/faith this semester, we learned to look at Jesus in his humanity and we learned some very convincing reasons why God really does exist. We studied Jesus’ human aspects in looking as Luke’s gospel and in O’Maley’s Understanding Jesus. Jesus was human and like us broke rules, mourned, got angry, doubted, etc. We studied the convincing arguments of why God exists and why to believe in him from two perspectives: knowledge of God via the natural world and knowledge of God via the human person. We see evidence of God through the natural world in intelligent design, the golden ratio, the Anthropic Principle, the Kalam argument, Pascal’s wager, and Plato and Aquinas’ degrees of perfection. We see evidence of God through the human person in the arguments from religious experience, conscience, and natural law.
The Kalam Argument says that if everything that begins to exist has a cause outside itself and the universe(everything which exists in time) began to exist, then the universe had a cause of itself. So since the universe exists it must have had a beginning which leaves the questions: who started it? And for what purpose?
The Golden Ratio is a pattern seen in natural things all around the world. It is known as the divine proportion. It was discovered by the ancient Greeks. The Fibonacci numbers(/golden ratio) are 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, ... The golden ratio strongly suggests intelligent design.
The Necessary Conclusion is the idea that the existence of God is the only explanation that would answer why we have such feelings/questions of meaning, love, security, and peace. But then again if God doesn’t exist then do we just suffer from some lack of wholeness. We can’t live without the existence of God yet we live so there has to be a God.

How can I be a more faithful person from our study?
Some of the things like intelligent design have really enforced my faith. By learning these things I now have more faith and believe in God more easily. I should now spread these things that I’ve learned to others so that they too might believe easier as I do.
