Graduation was here. You could feel the buzz of excitement in the air of the Crashdown Café, which was filled with Seniors celebrating the last day before graduation day. Liz, Max, and Isabelle sat on one side of their booth while Michael, Maria, and Tess were on the other. Kyle sat straddled on a chair at the end of their booth. They were all chatting enthusiastically about their plans for the summer and the ceremony in general.

They were soon interrupted by Liz’s father. “Hey Liz, I know this is your last afternoon before graduation, but I need help serving these people their meals!” He swung his arms around at the packed restaurant. Liz rolls her eyes and says, “Okay, dad.” She slides out of the booth and goes to the kitchen.

After serving 12 hot plates to various hungry teenagers, she goes to the kitchen and comes back with a pie in hand. While walking back, she calls out “How about some dessert for celebrating?” But right before Liz gets to the booth a chair from a nearby table scoots out and catches Liz in the right ankle, making her trip. The pie goes flying out of her hands, landing right into Max’s face.

The whole group burst out laughing, as did Liz and some nearby customers who saw the incident. Max just sat there while the pie dripped into his lap. “Oh! Oh my gosh Max, I’m–sorry,” Liz sputtered through laughs. Max calmly wiped the pie out of his eyes and stuffed the contents on his fingers in his mouth.

“Mmmm tasty.  Why don’t u try some, Liz?” Max grabbed a handful of pie from his lap and threw it right into Liz’s face, laughing at Liz’s shocked face. The whole group continued to laugh harder. Now the whole café was turned to watch the funny scene. Liz stood there while the pie dripped off her forehead down the length of her face.

She smiled under the pie and exclaimed, “I can’t believe you just did that!” Michael, Maria and Tess chuckled, until they were smacked in the face with pie coming from Max’s direction. “They stopped laughing and Max and Liz laughed louder. Kyle stood up and yelled, “FOOD FIGHT!” right before getting smacked in the face with pie filling.

Everyone in the café stood up and began grabbing food off their trays, slinging them across the room and tables to each other. Hamburger and fries flew through the air, smacking people all over. Mr. Parker stormed out from the back room and walked right into the middle of the war.

Someone slung a tomato slice dripping with ketchup and mayo, slapping Mr. Parker right in the face. Liz saw this and laughed loudly, until some type of food was thrown into her mouth.

An hour later, the café was finally emptied out, except for Max, Liz, Michael, Maria, Isabelle, Tess, and Kyle. Mr. Parker had to close the café for “cleaning” until later that evening. Max was mopping, Maria Tess and Liz were wiping down the chairs, booths, and tables. Isabelle was washing the walls, and Michael and Kyle were picking up the larger pieces of food from the floor and taking out the trash.

All of them still had smiles glues on their face. When Liz got to their booth for cleaning, she started to giggle again. Everyone looked in her direction, and chuckled. “This was a nice way to go out with a bang,” Maria said with a wide grin on her face.

“Too bad we didn’t get to eat any of the pie that you brought out, Liz,” Kyle sighed. Then Liz smiled and put down her wash cloth. She went to the kitchen and brought another pie that looked like their other one. Anyone feel like dessert to celebrate by?” Liz giggled.

Just then Kyle stuck out his foot with a smile on his face and Liz tripped. Max caught her just in time, and they all laughed again. They sat and enjoyed there pie, the last one they’d eat before they were graduated from West Roswell High.
