Becky and her Pumpkin
This is me and the house pumpkin

I am a fun loving girl from Guelph, Ontario. I am in my second year here at Mount Allison studying Modern Languages and Commerce. I speak French and German and I am learning Spanish slowly.
I live in Room 203 in Cuthbertson House aka "the big room"...it's one of the biggest residence rooms on campus. I am the secretary/treasurer of the Satellite House Council, a position which has taught me lots of responsiblity and a lot about team work. I work part-time for Mount Allison External Relations as a telemarketer. I volunteer every Saturday morning with the Cumberland County SMILE program helping children with special needs in the gym and the pool.
I love angels and sunflowers just like my roommate. I didn't know this until the afternoon when she moved in and when I came back, her part of the room was decorated with angels and sunflowers.

Some people say that I am a little bit boy crazy but I beg to differ! I love watching Dawson's Creek and Friends and my favourite movie is Notting Hill.

Here are a few of my favourite quotes:

Of what use is a university education to a young man unless he comes under the influence of instructors who can astonish him? -- Robertson Davies, A Voice from the Attic, 1960

MISS PIGGY, actress: "Moi cannot settle for just one man. My sexiest man alive would have Brad Pitt's hair, Tom Cruise's smile, George Clooney's body and Bill Gates's wallet. Oh, and it wouldn't hurt if he was short, green and had webbed feet." (People Magazine's 1997 sexiest man)

"Falling in love with someone isn't always going to be easy... Anger... tears... laughter.. It's when you want to be together despite it all. That's when you truly love another. I'm sure of it."--Keiichi Morisata

"I've found out why people laugh. They laugh because it hurts so much... because it's the only thing that'll make it stop hurting." -- Mike Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert Heinlein

The sum of a man's problems come from his inability to be alone in a silent room." - Pascal

No problem is so big and complicated that it can't be run away from. ~Linus (Peanuts character by Charles Schultz)

One of the advantages of being young is that you don't let common sense get in the way of doing things everyone else knows are impossible. ~Anonymous

[My mother] said I must always be intolerant of ignorance but understanding of illiteracy. That some people, unable to go to school, were more educated and more intelligent than college professors.~Maya Angelou

If every American donated 5 hours a week, it would equal the labor of 20 million full-time volunteers.~Whoopi Goldberg

These quotes to some extent reflect my experiences during the past few months at Mount Allison. Hopefully you can begin to see some aspects of my personality.

I was trained in Reiki, which is a non invasive energy transfer therapy. It involves sending healing energy through 12 different hand positions on the body. I was trained by Cheryl Kerman, who has a direct connection to the people who founded Reiki.

USELESS FACTS ABOUT ME!

I don't have a proper bellybutton. I had a hernia when I was a baby and they had to operate which left a wonderful smile-shaped scar underneath and a bellybutton which is neither in or out.

I have a penchant for tall, dark and goofy looking guys, preferably in positions of power.

As I mentioned earlier, my week just isn't the same if I miss Dawson's Creek or Friends...some may say I have an addiction...I beg to differ.

I like listening to relatively mellow music such as Sarah McLachlan, Ani Difranco and Tori Amos.

I am extremely sentimental.

I love the smell of vanilla.

I won a keg party from the Tantramarsh Club, the student pub.

I have three plants which I love. Their names are Alvin, Simon and Theodore.

Most of my friends from high school went to the University of Guelph.

My father is also a student right now. He is in his second year of Materials Management at Conestoga College in Kitchener, Ontario. Coincedentally, we also go to MacLean's number one ranked schools. The race is on to see who will graduate first.

My dream right now is to do the SWAP program for a couple of years and do some travelling/working in Britain and France. Then I want to take Native Education at Brandon and then teach in the Territories for a few years to save up enough money to open my own book/New Age store which I am going to call Angelwhispers.

I can't think of too much more to say for now but I am sure that more things will come up and I will add them as they come.

Special greetings to all my family and my friends at home. I miss you all! Kate, Doug and Bridget...I really miss you guys! Visit often so you can check on our house. 1
