MY THOUGHTS AT THE WALL
What I had envisioned, resembled no part;
Of the numbness and awe now engulfing my heart.
Occasional flowers were propped up on end;
To honor a husband, a loved one, or friend.
I felt presence among me, I was not there alone;
Could it be those whose names now appear in the stone?
With love and with sadness I surveyed the great loss;
The hundreds of brave - the ultimate cost!
I must trust that God has a plan for us all;
But why, Lord, are there so many - "names on the wall?"
