     ENGLISH, CHINESE,INDIAN,PAKISTAN dialects
What monuments or buildings are your country's biggest tourist
attraction?:

Scottish castles including Edinburgh and Stirling. The monument to Sir William Wallace in Stirling is great to visit..it is a large tower up on a hill with a great view of the valley where several battles were fought against the English troops. The story of Wallace is told inside
the monument. We have a lot of Museums, Art Galleries,Churches.
Give us a few words about the town you live in:
Paisley is the biggest town in Scotland and has so much history. It has famous buildings like the Paisley Abbey and it is the home of the famous Paisley Pattern fabric design which you can see all over the world. It is an old style town with good shopping, nightlife and beautiful
churches and cathedrals. Glasgow Airport is based at Paisley. The Sma'Shot cottage which is of historical interest. We are close to Glasgow and close to the alleged birthplace of William Wallace(Elderslie). The Stealer's Wheel singer Gerry Rafferty was born in Paisley(he also sung
Baker Street).
If a friend were to come and stay with you, where would you take them
so that they could really understand your culture?:

Hmmm, I'd show them the gorgeous scenery in the north of Scotland and take them to the Highland games.I'd show them the famous battlefields at Culloden, Stirling Bridge and Bannockburn to tell about our history. We'd visit Loch Ness to try and catch a glimpse of the famous Loch Ness Monster.I'd take them to the castles to learn about our past.I'd
show them the cities to shop in, the beaches to relax at and take them out to see our nightlife.
What religions are practiced there? :
     Catholic, Protestant, Hindu, Muslim etc
What are your most sacred holidays, and how does your family spend those times?:
November 30th is St Andrew's day (our patron saint) but we don't celebrate it by doing anything special. We celebrate Hogmanay(the Scottish word for New Year's Eve)and Christmas and Easter but nothing special in our family.
What do people typically do for fun there?:
We do pretty much the standard things-dancing in local clubs, having a drink with friends, watching football and other sports, shopping, day trips to the coastal towns, going to the funparks, the zoo, things like that.
What was your childhood like  there? Were there special games children
play where you're from?:

Childhood was good I guess. Special games...we loved "Rounders" a game very similar to baseball.
What is the typical cuisine of your region? What's your favourite
traditional dish?:

The traditional Scottish dish I guess would be fish and chips, tasting better when you buy it in a chipshop and eat it with your fingers from the newspaper wrapping! The favourite carry out food here is the Indian Chicken Tikka Masala(my personal favourite)Fast food like pizza,
Chinese and Indian food, are very popular. Some people eat haggis, very Scottish and gross!,scotch pies(nice) bridies(nice).
What are the most popular sports there? Why do you think they're so popular?:
Football(soccer) is probably the favourite here.Rugby is popular and cricket is gaining popularity. I guess football is popular because it is fast and the crowd can get very involved.
How do you think other people perceive your country? How are they right/wrong?:
Some people think Scotland is still the way you see it in films like Rob Roy-we don't live in stone huts and wash our clothes in rivers! We are as technically advanced as the USA. Some people see our country as just quiet and scenic but we have plenty to offer the younger
visitor as well.It is a beautiful historical lively and proud country. And we don't all eat haggis and wear kilts every day! I hate haggis and I only wear kilts to weddings and football games!
And it doesn't always rain!
What is it about your country that makes you so proud?:
I am proud of our history, the way we fight for what we believe in. We are friendly and welcoming to visitors and get on well with people. we know how to party and have a good time!
If there's one thing you would like people to know about your culture--
what is it?:

Scottish people are friendly and welcoming. We are very generous and love to welcome visitors. we are not mean with money,we are not all alcoholics and we don't go rioting every night. We are fun loving not thugs!
Is there anything else you would like to tell us?:
Why not visit Scotland and find out for yourself...!
