Whitby National Rally - Easter 2002

Good Friday dawned fine and bright and I was chomping at the bit, my bag having been packed days before, and raring to go for my first rally of the season.  I met up with some of the Darlo crew and set off for Whitby.  Two hours later I was making my way down the hill to the quayside.  There were already a handful of scooters parked up when we arrived at the New Angel, stopping to wet my whistle before I headed off to find our digs.

Craig, Linda and Graham arrived shortly after, followed by Mel and Martin.  Craig was only there for the afternoon so we dumped our stuff, had a quick wash and brush up and headed off back into town for a bite to eat and a drink before he had to head home.  Graham and I ended up in a bar somewhere with the Darlo and Redcar crowd, nipping back to the digs for half an hour (v. reluctantly) cos I.. (ahem I mean Graham) wanted to make himself beautiful for the night out.  I don’t know…  men eh?!  He he!

Evening followed the same pattern, meeting up with a suntanned Nick and Sveta along the way.  Our night time’s entertainment was to be found at The Pavilion bumping into newly weds Batty and Julie amongst others.  Lots of beer, lots of talking, lots of dancing ..achy feet …what else can I say?!

Saturday morning, and after one of the best breakfasts ever experienced on a rally, we headed out in search of entertainment.  Linda and I took off on our own to explore the seafront and left the guys to suss out the custom show and do …well whatever it is guys do when girlies aren’t around!!…. meeting up later in the pub (where else?!).

Saturday night and we all meet up in the pub, again meeting Nick and Sveta, Batty and Julie, Mossy and even Gilly put in an appearance.  We meandered from pub to pub (can you see a pattern emerging here?) bumping into Tat amongst others and ending up in the Metropole at an alternative do where we got the same great music but no queues at the bar and even a floor show!  How those blokes chuck themselves around the dancefloor carrying those beer bellies around I’ll never know?!!!  A drunken walk back to our digs, dropping Gilly off on the way saw us being pelted with eggs by our ‘mates’ in the Darlo flat.  No good without bacon guys!!

Sunday morning saw us saying our goodbyes and all heading off in various directions, first rally under our belts and looking forward to the next one.

Great DHSC club turn out, Craig, Mel, Graham, Linda, Martin, Nick, Svetta, Steve, Margaret, Batty, Julie, Mossy,  Dan, Bri, Chris, Bally, Colyn, Julie, Deck, Mark, Alan, Tracey and  Louise.....................Sound !
