Gingers Egg
Run 31st March 2001
A few of us met up at Mel's house about 8:30am to make the trip over the Pennines to take part in Gingers Egg Run. A few of us were Mel, Mark Gill, Mark Gray, Craig and Nicola. Both Marks were evidently suffering from too much ale the previous night, they did not look good.
Quite uneventful trip over despite VERY strong winds on the top of the Pennines, quite worrying at times !!
We arrived at Lowton about 11:15am having had a dry run over, then the rain started to come down, as it was to carry on for the next 3 hours or so.
Above - As you can see the scooter park got a little packed !!

Above - More bikes in the scooter park.
Above - Mel and Mark shelter from the crap weather.
The egg run set off with police escort on time at 12:00 midday, but it took us about 15 minutes to get out of the car park. The turn out dedn't seem as good as 2000 probably due to the Modrapheniacs event being on the same weekend and the fact this year the egg run was not an LCGB sign on event.
The procession moved faster than last year also, again probably due to the lower numbers.
The rain got quite heavy during the run, but of course decided to stop when we got to Manchester Childrens Hospital to drop off the easter eggs.

Above - The 2 Marks again, Craig and Mel.
We left the hospital probably last after taking on board refreshment, and headed back to Doncaster. Again, we had a good run back and thankfully the wind had died down over the Pennines.
On the whole a good
day out, great opportunity to make sure the bikes were running well for
the coming season.
