Lt., Escaped capture at Island No. 10. His name was dropped from the roll on 30 Sept. 1862. Brodie T. Howard, 2nd Lt., Escaped capture at Island No. 10. He lived in Henry Co., Tn. Captured 6 Jan. 1864 in Tn. His name appears on a list of prisoners at Rock Island Barracks, Ill., as being received from Columbus, Ky., dated 16 Jan. 1864. Brodie T. Howard is listed in Co.”K” of the 20th Tn. Cav., Rennolds' History, pages 214 and 274. He was the son of James and Jackie Howard. Miles F. Tyler, 3rd Lt., Escaped capture at Island No. 10. He resigned 16 May 1862, because of bad health,(bad feet and ankles). Succeeded by J. W. Callicott. William T. Sims, 1st Sgt., Captured at Island No. 10, sent to Camp Douglas, Ill. Exchanged 23 Sept. 1862. Elected captain at the regiment’s reorganization, 30 Sept. 1862 at Jackson, Ms. He was the son of William and Sarah Sims. W. T. Jones, 2nd Sgt., Escaped capture at Island No. 10. Lived in Henry Co., Tn. Rennolds' History, page 214, listed as the 2nd Sgt. is W. S. Jones, escaped capture at Island No. 10, (probably the same soldier). J. H. Sims, 3rd Sgt., Captured at Island No. 10, sent to Camp Douglas, Ill. Died while in prison, 20 May 1862, from typhoid fever. He is buried in the Oakwoods Cemetery, Chicago, Ill. (J. Harvey Sims). J. W. Callicott, 4th Sgt., Captured at Island No. 10, sent to Camp Douglas, Ill. Exchanged 23 Sept. 1862, Vicksburg, Ms. He was elected Lt. of the regiment 30 Sept. 1862, at the regiments reorganization. His name is found as being a 2nd Lt. in Co. "F" of the 55th Tn. Inf., and was admitted to the lst Mississippi C. S. Hosp. in Jackson, Ms., 31 May 1863. He resigned 20 March 1865. (John W. T. LaFayette Bowden, 3rd Cpl, Killed at Island No. 10, 6 April 1862, by an exploding shell. In The Military Annals of Tennessee, page 543, by John Lindsley, he stated that Bowden died June of 1862. This is an error, because according to Rennolds' History, pages 182 and 215, he states that he was killed by an exploding shell at Island No. 10., the same information as the National Archives gives. ******************************************************************************** Aclin, R.
