Company “D” was consolidated 24 Oct. 1863 with Companies "B", "G", and "I".  All Sergeants were reelected at the regiment’s reorganization.

Sylvester C. Cooper, Capt., age 32, He was promoted to major, 21 Oct. 1863.  Pleasant M. Hope succeeded him as captain.  Captured at Island No. 10, sent to Camp Chase, Ohio, transferred to Johnson's Island 24 April 1862.  Sent to Vicksburg, Ms. to be exchanged, 1 Sept. 1862. Wounded at Franklin, Tn., 30 Nov. 1864.  He had a gun shot wound to the right hip.  Wife, Margaret Agnes Cooper.  Lived in Henry Co., Tn. Major Cooper was also captured at Franklin, Tn.
R. H. Crank/ Richard Crank, lst Lt., age 36, captured at Island No. 10, sent to Camp Chase, Ohio, transferred to Johnson's Island, 24 April 1862.  Sent to Vicksburg, Ms., I Sept. 1862 for exchange.  Resigned 30 Sept. 1862 at the regiments reorganization.  He is buried in the Conyersville Cemetery in Henry Co., Tn.
J. E. Calloway/James E. Calaway, 2nd Lt., age 38, Captured at Island No. 10, sent to Camp Chase, Ohio, transferred to Johnson's 24 April 1862.  Sent to Vicksburg, Ms., 1 Sept. 1862 for exchange.  Resigned 30 Sept. and M. B. Valentine succeeded him. (J. 0. Calloway is filed with J. E. Calloway at the National Archives).
G. Addison Duncan, 3rd Lt., Escaped capture at Island No. 10. Lived in Henry Co., Tn.  Resigned 30 Sept. 1862, succeeded by William L. Hope.  He stated in a letter to Gen. Beauregard, he wanted to join a guerrilla company. The letter was written in Humboldt, Tn., 4 June 1862, (Gibson Co., Tn.). He is buried in the Schroader Cemetery in Calloway Co., Ky.  Born 13 March 1833, died 30 July 1913.  He also served in Co. "K" of the 20th Tn. Cav.
William R. Newport, 1st Sgt., age 29, Captured at Island No. 10, sent to Camp Douglas, Ill.  Exchanged 23 Sept. 1862.  Captured at Franklin, Tn. 30 Nov. 1864, sent to Camp Douglas, Ill.  Forwarded to Point Lookout, Md. and released 29 June 1865.  Lived in Henry Co., Tn. (William Reed Newport).  In Rennolds' History, page 205, wounded at Jackson.  Ms., served through the war.
Charles M. Kennerly, 2nd Sgt., age 19, He was captured at Island No. 10, sent to Camp Douglas, Ill.  Exchanged 23 Sept. 1862, Vicksburg, Ms. Captured at Franklin, Tn. 30 Nov. 1864, sent to Camp Douglas, Ill. 4 Dec. 1864. Transferred to Point Lookout, Md., 23 Mar. 1865.  He took the oath to the U. S. 28 June 1865 and was released.  Lived in Henry Co., Tn.  He was born in Floyd Co., Va. in 1844 and was the son of John W. Kennerly and Martha Ross.  The Kennerly family came to Henry Co., Tn. from Patrick Co., Va., ca. 1850.  In Rennolds' History, page 205, wounded at Atlanta, Ga., (Charles W. Kennerly).
Thomas M. Lankford, 3rd Sgt., age 21, captured at Island No. 10, sent to Camp Douglas, Ill.  Exchanged 23 Sept. 1862, Vicksburg, Ms. Rennolds' History, page 205, states that he was killed at Peachtree Creek, Ga.  This is an error, because he was killed at Franklin, Tn., 30 Nov. 1864, and is buried in the McGavock Confederate Cemetery in Franklin, Tn., section 65, grave # 208.
Reuben Valentine, 4th Sgt., In Rennolds' History, page 205, he was captured at Island No. 10, served through the war.

Carson, Robert A., age 24, captured at Island No. 10, sent to Camp Douglas, Ill.  He was sick in the prison hospital.  Took the oath to the U. S. while he was in prison, Oct. 1862. (Robert A. Carlon is filed with Robert A. Carson, at the National Archives).  He was left sick at Camp Douglas when the regiment was exchanged in Sept. 1862.  Parents, A. W. and Margaret Carson of Henry Co., Tn.

Charles, Joshua, Captured at Island No. 10, sent to Camp Douglas, Ill. Took the oath to the U. S. while he was in prison, 28 Aug. 1862, and was discharged 30 Aug. Lived in Henry Co., Tn. His name also appears on the hospital list at Camp Douglas.
Childers, John H., age 18, captured at Atlanta, Ga., 6 Sept. 1864. He died 21 Dec. 1864 in Nashville, Tn., and was first buried in the City Cemetery, grave # 10579. His remains were moved to the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Confederate section in 1867. He died in the U. S. General Hospital, Nashville, Tn. from chronic diarrhea.  He lived in Fulton Co., Ky. before his enlistment. (not Married).  National Archives. Records also show this soldier enlisting in Co. A of the 12th Ky. Cav., 29 April 1863, under Capt. C. C. Bowman, in Northern
Ms. He was sent to Fort Morgan at Mobile Bay on 10 Jan. 1864, to help defend the Port of Mobile.  He was born in Ky. in 1846 and was living on the farm of William S. Johnson in 1860, Fulton Co., Ky., (John H. Childress).  Information was found in Donald L. Livingston's book, Fulton Countians in the Civil War, page 17.
Childers, William, Captured near Jonesboro, Ga., 7 Sept. 1864. On 2 Nov. 1864 his name appears on the U. S. General Hospital #2 list in Chattanooga, Tn.

(a son from her first marriage).
Hope, William.  L., Sgt., age 28, captured at Island No. 10, sent to Camp Douglas, Ill.  Exchanged 23 Sept. 1862.  Promoted to 3rd Lt. 30 Sept. 1862.  Records at the National Archives state that he died in Nashville, Tn.  This is an error, he died at Franklin, Tn., 6 Dec. 1864, from wounds received on 30 Nov. 1864.  He is buried in the McGavock Confederate Cemetery, in Franklin, Tn.  In the McGavock Cemetery book he is listed in
Section 51, grave # 14, this is an error.  This is the resting place for Lt. Robert B. Hendericks of Co. "K".  The compiler and a fellow historian, David D. Hobbs, investigated the mistake. William L. Hope was the son of Mrs. John Martin of Henry Co., Tn. (a son from her first marriage).
Abott, William Powell, age 30, escaped capture at Island No. 10 and did not return to the regiment.  Lived in Henry Co., Tn. Wife, Martha E. Abott. William P. Abott was born 6 April 1830, died 25 March 1896.  He is buried in the Conyersville Cemetery in Henry Co., Tn.

W. R. Bonner appears twice in Tennesseans in the Civil War, Vol, 2, page 45.

Smith, John, age 28, Captured at Island No. 10, sent to Camp Douglas, Ill., and exchanged 23 Sept. 1862.  He took the oath to the U. S. 10 Jan. 1865 in Pulaski, Tn.  Lived in Henry Co., Tn. Records at the National Archives state that he had no family. In Rennolds' History, page 208, he is also listed as being captured at Atlanta, Ga., and served through the war.
Smith, Lewis, Records from Camp Douglas show that a Lewis Smith of Co. “D”, died 7 July 1862 and was buried in the Oakwoods Cemetery in Chicago, Ill.  No other records are found on this man.  At the National Archives a L. Smith is listed with Ludwell Smith's records.  The records show that he, L. Smith, died at Camp Douglas, 2 July 1862.  This man is probably Lewis Smith, because Ludwell Smith was discharged 5 Oct. 1862 in Holly Springs, Ms., (see Ludwell Smith).

B Stevens is buried in the Stephens Cemetery in Henry Co., Tn.  The cemetery is located on the formerly known Craig Hooper Place, now Brandon. Taylor, Charles, age 25, Enlisted in the regiment, 25 Oct. 1862 at Waverly, Tn. under the direction of Col. J. D. Wilson.  He was captured near Atlanta, Ga., July 1864, and took the oath to the U. S. 26 Aug. 1864.  Lived in Henry Co., Tn. Rennolds' History, page 209, Charlie T. Taylor, captured at Island No. 10. Born 1839, died 1909, wife Mattie, born 1851, died 1908.  They are buried in the Conyersville Cemetery in Henry Co., Tn.

Van B. Valentine was wounded at Franklin, Tn., and served through the war.
Valentine, Thomas R., age 18, Captured at Island No. 10, sent to Camp Douglas, Ill.  Exchanged 23 Sept. 1862.  Paroled at the end of the war as a sgt.  He took the oath to the U. S. 10 June 1865.  Tn.  Confederate Pension # 9190, living in Obion, Co., Tn. when he filed for the pension.
Valentine, T. S., Escaped capture at Island No. 10.  He is listed as being sick in the General Hospital in Lauderdale Springs, Ms. during the Spring and Summer of 1863, (Thomas S. Valentine). Rennolds' History, page 209, Thomas S. Valentine, captured at Island No. 10, discharged because of ill health.  Born in 1832, and died in 1903.  He is buried in the Conyersville Cemetery in Henry Co., Tn.  His wife Elizada Valentine, 1842 - 1924 is buried in the same cemetery.
Vancleave, S. M., Rennolds' History, page 209, died at Macon, Ga., 5 Sept. 1864.  His name is found in the Sept. 1893 issue of The Confederate Veteran, page 280, as being buried in Macon, Ga. (From the Macon Telegraph and Messenger of 26 April 1878).  See S. N. Vancleave of Co. "G".
