Tool Consecration/Cleansing Ritual

Whenever you acquire a new tool that you wish to use for ritual it needs to be cleansed of all negativity and past energy residue. Even if an item's brand new it still could have picked up astral residue from somewhere. In addition to cleansing, a tool usually needs to be empowered for a specific purpose. Below are a few ways to cleans and empower tool, crystals, ritual items and spell components.

There are many different ways to go about cleansing and consecrating a tool.

-Sprinkle the item with salt water and pass it through exorcising incense.

-Wash it with and infusion of herbs. (Mirrors and crystal balls are often cleansed with an infusion of mugwort.)

-Bury it for a period of time.

-Leave it outside in the light of the full moon.

To empower an item for a specific use.

-Pass it through incense that correspond to your need.

-Wash it in an infusion of herbs empowered for your need.

-Coat in hot wax then scrape runes into the wax. Use to consecrate an athame.

-Draw temporary or carve permanent runes into the item.

After an item has been consecrated use it immediately to lock in the power.
