"Damn well took you long enough! Denise here has decided to run off with me....she and Liane are going to share me," AJ teased.
Howie looked to Denise with bright eyes. "Ooh baby, tell me it ain't so?" he begged playfully as he took the seat beside her and brought another perfect red rose out from behind his back, holding it out to her.
"Oooooh...damn...sorry AJ, but he brought me a rose," Denise gushed. "Thanks handsome," she grinned, leaning over to hug him and feeling his arm slide around her for a quick moment.
"No...thank you!" he whispered. "Thank you for agreeing to come out here," he smiled, brushing her hair back over her shoulder.
"Like I could have seriously said no! I mean, free champagne! Hello??" she grinned, teasing him for once.
"Damn...that's cold," AJ joked from the other side of the table.
"I'm only kidding...seriously," she assured Howie as she let her hand come to rest on his knee.
"Just you wait...payback is hell," he warned before pouring them each a flute of champagne, handing hers to her. He brought his glass up to his lips and looked at her over the rim as he took a sip. The look in his eyes had just the effect he'd hoped for, sending a flush of pink through her cheeks.
Liane was still trying to recover after that kiss... he had tasted delicious... of champagne and honey. All she could think about was getting her lips on his again... and she shut the door and locked it on the little voice in her head that was whining 'you're a good girl, you don't know him, too fast!' She mentally swallowed the key. Her pulse was beating an exciting, dangerous rhythm.
The restaurant was nearly empty. looking out the window Li could see that the snow seemed to be about hip deep at that point. "Wow. Nanuck of the north." she laughed.
"I know how the eskimos keep warm..." murmured Howie to Denise.
"Oh... and how's that?" said Dee faintly.
"Body heat..."
"O my..."
"We can try it out later and see how well it works..." he smiled wickedly to her.
"Um..yeah....ok..." she murmured, almost unable to speak as she watched him.
"More champagne?" he grinned, holding up the bottle and refilling her glass without waiting for an answer.
Before the four could get any more wound up, their dinner arrived and they spent the next hour or so deep in conversation. Howie and AJ made up for lost time, asking loads of questions about the girls, insisting that they probably knew enough about them already. When they were done, Denise looked over at the dessert tray. "Yummmmm....chocolate eclaire cake," she sighed. "Let's get some!"
"Hey...we get dessert later," Howie reprimanded her. "Ice cream baby....remember?" he raised an eyebrow to her. "The restaurant is nearly empty. How about a dance or two instead," he asked as he pulled her from the chair without waiting for an answer. His eyes landed on her long, trim legs, and he whistled softly under his breath. "Nice stems lady," he flirted as he wrapped her in his arms.
Liane laughed at her friend and shook her head. "Those two...get the impression they are going to take great pleasure in torturing and teasing each other?" she giggled as she turned to AJ.
"Hey...who's looking at those two?" AJ asked while wiggling his brow, causing her to laugh more.
"So, Mr. Bone, would you like to dance?"
"Is it snowing? Is the Pope Catholic? Does the sun shine?"
"Does that mean yes?" giggled Li. AJ stood up and bowed with a flourish proffering a hand.
"Milady..."
"Milord." said Liane, taking his hand and heading out to the floor. He twirled her and brought her close.
"Mmmmmm... like water in a stream. I knew you'd be a good dancer." AJ murmured.
"Yeah? What gave it away?"
"The slippers."
"Not glass I'm afraid."
"I'm glad. if they were glass you'd have to leave at midnight."
"My Pumpkin doesn't have four wheel drive." chuckled Liane. AJ twirled her again and leaned her into a low dip. Li caught her breath.
"Trust me, Cinderella?"
"I do, Prince." she said her eyes shining as he looked into his.
"Your eyes are like fire." he whispered.
"So are my lips..." he kissed her then. She couldn't believe she had said that!
"You taste like champagne and strawberries."
"I didn't eat any strawberries." she whispered as he finally lifted her from the dip.
"I know. That's why it's so magic."
Howie tapped AJ. "Let's take this party private." he said urgently. "We have a fireplace in our suite..."
"Let's play strip poker!" said Denise, laughing.
"I don't know how to play poker." pouted Liane.
"I'll go see if they have anything at the front desk. Take care of my pricess, D."
"Oh, I will." Howie crooked his arms and the ladies put the arms through his as they headed for the elevator. Liane felt like a third wheel as Denise and Howie ate each other with their eyes as the elevator rose. When they got to the room Howie started a fire and the girls made themselves comfortable.
There was a knock at the door and a rather bemused looking AJ walked in. "Well, they had no cards... the only games they had were... I don't know..." he had his hands behind his back.
"Oh, come on, out with it!" laughed Liane.
"Ok, but I warned you.... anyone up for some strip..." he pulled a bright box from behind his back "...CandyLand?"
After a couple beats of silence all four dissolved in hilarious laughter.
