2 weeks later
AJ looked at his watch and then looked up at his bandmates who were messing around, oblivious to his annoyed expression. "Guys can we hurry up and finish, Molly will be back from the doctor's and I want to be there when she gets back."
"Bone go ahead, we can finish up without you. Jessi and I will drop the finished track over to you tonight, about 8-ish" Howie smiled reassuringly at his best friend.
"Thanks D, thanks guys, I will let you all know how her appointment went" AJ grabbed his jacket and hurried out of the studio.
"He is really scared huh?" Nick said as he tried to fiddle with the dip level in the bass.

Molly walked out of the doctor's office in a daze. The words played back like a bad dream in her mind "I am sorry Molly, the radiation did nothing to shrink the cancer cells, your only hope now is intense chemotherapy. " Molly ran to her car and when she shut the door she put her head down on the steering wheel and cried. She cried for the loss of her father, she cried for the loss of her freedom and she cried for the scared feelings that were running through her.

AJ rearranged the flowers that Kel had sent. He smiled when he read the card and knew that it would make Molly laugh. The hootchies had been wonderful to her. They had sent flowers and various get well cards, they all tried to call her as much as they could to lend her support and they were still planning on coming out for Andie's and Kel's birthday, which AJ knew would cheer Molly up. He heard her walk in and he went to meet her at the door. The minute AJ saw her face he knew that the news was not good.

"Alex I am going to lose my hair, oh my god how can I go on without hair? Doctor Keon says that if the chemo is succesful that I might want to consider having my breasts removed to prevent a reoccurance of cancer. What kind of woman will I be without my breasts and my hair" Molly's voice cracked and the flood gate of emotions opened and she started to sob hysterically, beating her fists on AJ's chest and wailing "WHY ME, GOD WHY ME...NO..."
"Baby, baby....look at me" AJ cupped her face in his hands and forced her eyes to meet his "You are all woman and will always be, you are my woman and always will be. You are going to look stunning with short hair and your breasts are not what I love about you, this is what I love about you, what's inside is what makes me crazy about you" AJ kissed her chest, where her heart was and smiled. "No matter how skinny you get, no matter how cranky you get and no matter how much hair you lose you are always going to be the woman who stole my heart and your body is always going to be the one I crave for to hold in my arms" AJ smiled softly and hugged her.

"Hey Nik, a bunch of us are heading down to the beach in an hour if you want to meet us" Nick left the message on her machine and ran to get ready. He wanted to check on Molly before he left for the beach.

"Hey you, how long have you been out here?" Howie bent down and kissed Jessi's neck. He had just gotten home from the studio and when he got out of the car he saw Jessi lying on the deck, sunbathing.
"About 40 minutes. I got restless writing and I was worried about Molly but didn’t want to call, so I figured I would catch some rays before I left." Jessi frowned slightly at the thought of heading back to dreary and rain filled Seattle.
Howie rolled up his pants and sat down beside her. "Is there nothing I can do to convince you to change your mind and stay with me for a while longer?" Howie grinned suggestively.
"That sexy little grin is not going to work on me Dorough, you know I would stay here in a heart beat but the family business needs me and I have meetings with my editor. I will be back in a few weeks for the hootchie birthday bash though" Jessi propped herself on one arm and smiled.
"I know, it is just I have had so much fun with you here, my house is going to seem so empty without you here." Howie bent down and brushed his lips against hers. "You know we have some time for a quick dip in the hot tub before you have to leave"
Jessi broke out laughing " In the words of the great Kel..... SHWING..." Jessi and Howie broke out laughing and walked hand in hand back into the house.

"Hey Chipper" Nick jumped out of his durango and ran to hug Molly who was planting flowers in the front of AJ's house. She had been joking ever since she had moved in that the house had far too much testosterone and that it needed some ovary vibes in it.
"Hi Nicky" Molly brushed her thinning hair out of her face, leaving a dirt smudge on her face. "And they call me Messy Marvin" Nick wiped the dirt from her face and laughed "So do I dare ask?"
Molly gulped " I have to start chemo tomorrow"
"Chipper I am so sorry" Nick's heart broke as he heard the news that he had prayed would never be said.
"I will be fine, so where are you off to? Meeting Miss Nik are you?" Molly teased.
"Her and some other friends. Hey I talked to Kim Ann last night, she is so excited to be getting away from all the shit in her office and coming down here to visit"
"Visit, huh more like babysit me. I am sure that her and Alex will get in a blow out before she is here even 2 hours. They are both so damn motherly" Molly laughed. "So from what Skylar and Kevin tell me you and Kymmi have been burning up the phone wires..something you would care to share with me while we are on the spill our guts kick" Molly teased, chuckling as Nick turned red.
"NO, Kymmi and I are just friends, we hit it off really well and she is a real good listener, that's all"
"Sure and Jessi and Howie are not having sex. Tell it to some who doesn't know you both. SO how come she is staying with you and not us?"
"She wants to give you guys space, and besides I told her I had a huge house and plenty of rooms. Honestly Kymmi is 24 and I am 19, that is a huge difference or so she keeps telling me, you know she is a real smart ass"
"Obviously you like her smart ass becasue you keep going back to it. Well Nicky your other girlfriend is probably fuming that you are keeping her waiting. Does she know that your other girlfriend is playing house guest with you"
"Chipper I will get you, you know that right, take care girl" Nick hugged his friend tightly and as they seperated he smiled at her. " I am picking Kymmi up at 7, how about I swing by here and drop her off so you guys can catch up"
"You mean you can drag yourself away from kissing her smart ass long enough to let her see her friend. Wow you are such a gentleman" Molly stuck out her tongue and waved goodbye to Nick. She finished planting the last flat of flowers and walked into the house to wash. As she climbed into the shower she heard Alex walk upstairs.
" I AM UP HERE BABY" Molly called over the splash of the shower.
AJ walked down the hall stripping off his clothes and humming. He walked into the bathroom and pulled back the shower and climbed in.
"Hi baby. How did the meeting with the Fun Club go?"
"Really great. Leona who is doing the webpage has some genius ideas and I cannot wait to see what she does." AJ kissed her neck and smiled as she shivered. "Do you know how long it has been since we have done this?"
Molly grinned and turned to face AJ "Alex it has been far too long, I am sorry that I haven't been better at showing my affection, and I am sorry that I haven't been fufilling you"
AJ's smile disappeared and he looked seriously at his girlfriend "Molly stop talking such garage, every second that you and I are together I am satisfied. I am fufilled every time our lips touch." HE held her tight as the hot water pelted down on them. As the couple broke apart AJ grabbed the soap and lathered up his hands and slid the lather all over her body, washing away the dirt and all the tense muscles. "So Kevin was telling me that Kymmi and our young Nicky have been talking up a storm"
"I was just talking to Nick and it appears that Kim Ann will be rescinding our invitation to stay here with us and instead bunk with Nick"
"Wow our little boy is growing up, he is going after an older woman"
"It seems that chasing after older women run in the Backstreet Family" Molly
grinned slyly and smiled as AJ's eyes twinkled.
