Love In A Movie Theater

Chapter 25

AJ and Julie were silent on the ride to her place. She didn't speak until he drove past her apartment building. "AJ, where are you going?"

"I think we should talk about this before we go back, you know, figure out what we can do to fix this." he parked in a nearby parking lot and shut off the car, turning to face her. "So, what the hell do we do now?" he asked.

Julie sighed. "I don't know. I'm sorry, AJ."

"About what?"

"About everything. About coming between you and Kate, about what I said about you..."

"You mean you wondered what I'd be like in...."

Julie looked away, too embarassed to look him in the eyes. "Yeah. We were just messing around. I'd never leave Brian over it or anything. Hell, I wonder what Brian would be like in bed more than I wonder what you'd be like but we were talking about you and it just slipped out..."

AJ laughed. "Jules, it's ok. I mean, there are millions of girls out there that probably wonder that same thing!"

"Don't flatter yourself or anything!" Julie laughed.

"I didn't mean it like that, I just mean that I'm used to it. It's just human nature. Don't be sorry about any of this. It's not your fault. You told me not to change the plans, and now it's come between you and Brian."

"AJ, do you know what Brian's so upset about?" Julie asked suddenly.

"I'm not really sure. To be honest I think he's jealous. It's no excuse for his behavior though. I also think he was disappointed with us for lying to Kate."

"I never meant for anyone to be mad at me though. Especially Brian. We've grown so close and I've shared more of myself than I have with anyone else, and all in less than one month. One month Tuesday to be exact." Julie said, fighting back the tears. If anything, she hated crying over guys.

AJ gave her a hug. "Don't worry about it, Julie. He'll come around before you know it. Brian can't stay mad for too long. Especially if he really cares for you. We'll fix this, don't worry."

Julie and AJ sat in his car for almost two hours just talking. About Brian, about Kate, about Rochelle and Nick, about life experiences and past relationships. That night they shared a common link. Finally, they had come up with a plan of action and AJ dropped Julie off at her apartment.

When she walked in, she saw Brian sitting on the couch in the dark.

"Brian? What are you doing here?"

"I came to talk to you. Where have you been?" he asked, hostily.

Julie was so surprised at his tone of voice that it took her awhile to answer. "I...AJ and I were talking about everything." she anwered quietly.

"And what have you decided?" he asked.

"What was I deciding about? We were talking about how to fix everything."

"Julie, what's going on with you and AJ?" he finally asked the one question he'd wanted to ask the last few days. He'd wanted to ask it everytime AJ would call her just to talk, when she went shopping without thinking to invite him.

Julie was finally starting to understand what was wrong with Brian. She sat down on the couch and sighed. She had some explaining to do.

Meanwhile, AJ had to put his plan into action. He went to the first grocery store he could find and bought up every single pink rose they had- Kate's favorite color. He bought two red roses and arranged them in the middle of the pink ones. He bought some chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream and then headed over to Kate's place.

He knew she was embarassed and probably wouldn't want to let him in, but he had a plan for that too. He knocked on her door and heard her call through the door, "Who's there?" she sounded like she was still crying.

"It's Alex. Can we talk?"

"No." she stated plainly and simply. "Please go away and leave me the hell alone."

AJ stood there for a minute, taken back by her harsh words. He was prepared for anger and hurt, but not quite this much bitterness.
