The girls stayed up all night watching their favorite movies and talking and fell asleep around 6:00 in the morning. The got up a few hours later and headed home leaving Julie to try and get a hold of AJ. She finally reached him on his cell.
"AJ? It's Julie. I've been trying to call you all morning!"
"Julie! Hey, how's it going?"
"Pretty good. I was calling to see if we were still on for shopping."
"Why wouldn't we be?" he asked.
"Didn't you tell Kate you'd go out with her this afternoon?" she asked.
"Oh shit! That's right! Crap! I'll call her and see if we can move our plans to this evening. I'm sorry, Julie."
"AJ, don't worry about it. We can go shopping another day, I don't want you to cancel your plans with her." Julie said.
"No, I had plans with you first. Besides- I don't know when I'll find another day you're not with Brian!" he teased.
"Shut up! You don't have to change your plans, I don't want to interfere between you two."
"Too bad, I'm changing them. I'll call you back in a little while." AJ said before hanging up.
"Kate's not going to like this at all." Julie muttered under her breath.
Kate was dressed up and waiting by the front door for AJ to show up. He was almost 20 minutes late and she was sure he'd been in an accident or something. He wouldn't just stand her up like that. She was about to call the police when the phone rang.
"Kate, it's AJ."
"AJ, where the hell have you been? I thought you were killed in an accident or something!"
"No no, nothing like that. It's just that something's come up and I'm not going to make it after all. I had a last minute business meeting."
"So, you really have stood me up, haven't you? I've been waiting for 20 minutes!"
"I'm so sorry. We can still go out this evening, if you want to. I promise I'll show up."
"Ok, pick me up around seven?"
"Seven it is! See you then!" he said.
AJ called Julie back and told her he'd talked to Kate and canceled their date for the afternoon and moved it to the evening.
"Was she ok with it?" Julie asked.
"Well, she was upset and worried but I think it's ok."
"Alrighty, I guess I'll see you later then."
A few minutes after she had hung up with AJ, Julie's phone rang again.
"Julie? It's Kate. AJ just called and canceled our date for this afternoon!" Kate said, sounding near tears.
"He just canceled the whole thing?"
"Well, no, he just pushed it back to this evening."
"Did he say why?" Julie asked, pretending not to know anything.
"He just said something had come up. What if he just doesn't want to go with me?"
"Kate, if he didn't want to go he wouldn't have agreed to go out later tonight. I'm sure it was just something he couldn't get out of. I wouldn't worry about it." Julie said.
"How do you sound so sure about that?"
"I just know, that's all." Julie said. "Listen, I have to go. Why don't you take a hot bath and calm yourself down before your date? I'll talk to you tomorrow, ok?"
"Ok, bye Julie."
AJ showed up soon to pick up Julie and take her shopping.
"Hey 'J! How's it hangin?"
"Wouldn't you like to know?" he smirked.
"You have a sick, sick mind!" Julie laughed as she climbed in his car.
"I hear that all the time, I just don't see it! So, what are we shopping for today?"
"Well, I need some new clothes. I have this huge closet and not enough clothes to put in it! Plus, I want to look good for Brian!"
"Julie, you don't need new clothes to look good for Brian. The way he is right now, you could wear a potato sack and he'd still think you were drop-dead gorgeous!"
"Yeah, sure he would. He'd probably dump me on the spot because his girlfriend started wearing potato bags for dresses!"
"If you say so...but there's only one way to find out!" he teased.
"Ok, no. We're not even going there! Park over by Express. I want to go there first."
"Alrighty."
Julie and AJ shopped the whole afternoon and had both aquired new wardrobes complete with accessories. AJ insisted on buying Julie a dress from Abercrombie that she had been eyeing so in return, Julie bought him a new hat with matching sunglasses and lunch at...where else? McDonalds.
When AJ dropped Julie off, he helped her carry her things into her apartment. They were laughing loudly when they walked in and didn't notice Brian sitting on the couch.
"And then when you asked if they had that bra in a larger size, the lady just stared at you like you were crazy!" Julie cracked up.
"Hey guys! How was your shopping trip?" Brian spoke up.
Julie and AJ jumped. "Oh- hey Brian! What are you doing here?" Julie said.
"I got bored so I thought I'd come over here and wait for you!" he said.
"Oh, ok. Anyways, I had a great time shopping except for when AJ freaked out the poor sales girl in Victoria's Secret when he asked for something in his size!"
"Her face was so funny, you should've been there, Rok!" AJ said, holding his sides from laughing so much.
"Yeah, I should've been there." Brian said, quietly.
