Chapter 12

While Brian was gone, Julie called her two friends Kate and Rochelle. They agreed that a hotel party sounded like fun, and they were anxious to meet Brian because he was all Julie ever talked about. Julie finished unpacking her things and slipped into her bathing suit so she would be ready to go swimming. The first person to arrive was AJ.

"Hey AJ! Come on in. Brian's not back yet, and you're the first person here." Julie said.

"Hey Julie. Nice to see ya again." he said, giving her a hug.

"Come on in and sit down." she said, gesturing to the couch and chairs.

"Thanks." he said, and sat down on the couch. Julie sat down next to him.

"I'm sorry to hear about you and Becky." she said to him.

"Don't worry about it. I mean, we weren't working out, and I realize that. I'm ready to move on now because I'm getting lonely!"

"Well good because I've got two friends coming over!"

"Are they female friends?" he asked, wiggling his eyebrows up and down.

"Yup. They sure are. You'll probably like Kate. She's crazy like you, and she can be a real smart-ass at times, so she may just be your match!"

"Really? Well, then let's party!"

Julie laughed. "You have to wait for them to get here first!"

"Damn! There's always a catch!" he joked. "So, what's with you and Brian? You two seemed pretty close at my house the other day."

"I don't know for sure. All I know is that I like him a lot. He's a real sweet guy."

"So, you two are a couple?"

"Well, yes and no. I mean, he hasn't asked me yet but we might as well be."

"Really? Has he kissed you yet?"

"AJ! That's none of your business!" Julie blushed, remembering the first kiss she had shared with Brian.

"Ok, so you have!" he laughed. "I didn't mean to embarass you. But you two haven't made anything official?"

"Nope. Do you think I should say something to him?"

"Well, if he means that much to you than you'd better tell him. I mean, maybe he's just scared that he's getting too attached to you or something like that. But I'm sure that he likes you, so what have you got to lose?"

"Yeah, I guess you're right. I don't have any guy friends to get my advice from, so you'll be hearing more from me, if you don't mind!"

"Nah, I don't mind. Just consider me one of the girls! I'll probably be asking you for advice on my girl problems."

"You? Have girl problems?"

"I know, I know. We all have our moments, right?"

"Yeah, I'll give you that. We'll just have to have an ice cream pig out one day when we're both troubled!"

"And then go shopping to work it all off."

"Oh you don't even want to come shopping with me. I shop til I literally drop!"

"Well, I think I may have met my match. We'll have to hit the malls together. Don't even bother asking Brian. He hates to shop, but then again, I'm sure he would go with you if you asked him."

"I just might take you up on that offer. I'm finally moving out into my own apartment and I'm going to need to buy lots of things. You should come along!" Julie was pleased that she was becoming such good friends with AJ. She didn't have very many friends around, and he seemed like he would be a good person to talk to about your problems.

"Really? That'll be cool. Just give me a call."

Just then, Brian came back in with Nick and joined them in the conversation. Brian had stopped at the store and bought plenty of junk food so they would have something to eat. Finally, Kate and Rochelle arrived and Julie made the introductions.

"This is AJ, Nick, and this clown over here is Brian."

"So this is the one that I've heard about constantly!" Kate joked.

Julie blushed and the rest of the group laughed. "Yeah, that's him."

They all sat around talking and eating. AJ and Kate seemed to hit it off just like Julie thought they would. Rochelle and Nick were a whole other story. Nick was being his usual goofball self and Rochelle seemed to be getting very annoyed with him. Julie pulled her into Brian's room to have a chat with her.

"Rochelle, why are you being such a bitch to Nick?"

"What are you talking about?"

"I'm talking about the way you keep giving him the 'I am way to good for you' glance, and all your comments you say to him everytime he opens his mouth to say something."

"Like what?" she asked, playing innocent.

"Like when he said how good he was at video games, and you said that only people who have no lives could be that good at video games."

"Well, he's getting on my nerves Julie! I mean, he's just annoying the crap outta me! What else am I suppose to do?"

"I don't know, just try to be nice to him, ok? For me?"

Rochelle sighed. "Ok, but only for you."

"Thanks." Julie said, and the two went back to join the others. "Who wants to go swimming?"

"I do! I do!" Brian said, raising his hand and jumping up and down like a little boy. Julie laughed and everyone grabbed their things and headed down towards the pool.

Brian and Julie got in the hot tub while the other four decided to play around in the pool. Julie snuggled up close with Brian and was about to talk to him about their relationship when they heard a spash followed by Rochelle's scream.
