I Don't Care Who You Are

----- Chapter 32 -----

Angela was enjoying sitting on Nick's lap to an extent, but soon into the car ride she wished she had sat up front in the middle, with Nick beside her. His legs were the longest and it would've been a far more reasonable choice of seating. She couldn't relax with her knees pressed against the front seat, so she just sat there silently, waiting to get to the bowling alley. Nick pressed his head over her shoulder and whispered into her ear. "You're awfully quiet, Ange. Are you mad at me?"

"No, why would I be mad?" She asked.

"Cos of what I said to Brian, earlier," he prodded.

Actually it had slipped her mind until he mentioned it again. "No, I'm not mad." She turned her head slightly to look at him and her stomach flip-flopped at how close he was. "But it was tacky."

"You thought that was tacky?" he asked, smiling. "Really? You don't want me taking advantage of you?"

Angela couldn't help but smile back at him and giggle. "Extreeeeeemely tacky," she answered without giving up any information.

"You are stiff as a board, Ange. Are you comfortable?" Nick tried to maneuver into a better position for her comfort, but there wasn't one.

Sandra overheard their discussion and felt sorry for Angela - even if she was sitting on his lap, it didn't look like she was having much fun. "You can put your feet this way, Angie."

Angie was relieved at the offer and looked at Sandra gratefully. "THANKS, Sandy. My knees hurt."

After lots of struggling and jabs into the front seat by accident, Angela was repositioned sideways on Nick's lap, with her legs resting on Sandra's knees and feet just barely on Brian's leg. Nick looked at her and started singing softly. "Put your head on my shoulder....." She rolled her eyes, embarrassed.

The song was then picked up by Brian. "Hold me in your arms, Baby..."

Then AJ. "Squeeze me oh so tight, Show me"

Then Howie.."That you love me, too."

Angela buried her head into Nick's neck because they were all looking at her as they sang. Kim Ann and Sandra were snickering softly, as they listened.

Then came the beautiful back-up vocals and harmonizing as Nick continued into another verse of the song. "Put your head on my shoulder, whisper in my ear, Baby; Words I want to hear, Tell me....That you love me too."

Angela was amazed at how quickly Brian, AJ and Howie had done the "ooh's and ahh's" without any practice whatsoever and gushed at Nick like a true fan. "You guys can just DO that whenever you feel like it?! I mean, you don't even have to practice or ANYTHING??"

Nick smiled proudly as he eyed Howie, who was looking over the front seat at him. Howie explained to her. "Well, it depends on how difficult the song is. That one's pretty traditional, kind of like other songs we've done at some time or another. Not that difficult."

"Wow," Angela exclaimed. "That's so COOL!"

Brian laughed, "It IS so COOL, isn't it?" he asked, mocking her.

"Shut UP, Brian, YOU know what I mean. I've never heard you guys just sing like that." Angela was embarrassed that she was being made fun of for not knowing a lot about their professional lives.

"Chill out, Angela, I'm just teasing you." Brian leaned forward and winked at her, grinning.

Nick put his nose against hers and said softly, "I think it's sweet. You're sweet."

Angela couldn't help put lean in and smooch him on the lips. "Thank you," she replied back, softly. "You've got a beautiful voice, Nick."

"I can sing to you later," Nick answered, rubbing his nose against hers. "Would you like that?"

Angela blushed. "Yeah, I would." Things were virtually quiet in the vehicle now, so Angela laid her head on his shoulder and snuggled up to his neck, kissing it softly. Nick leaned his head into hers and giggled. "Does that tickle?" she whispered into his ear before kissing it.

Nick laughed a little louder and leaned his head against hers to prevent her lips from touching him. "Stop it!"

Angela enjoyed making him squirm, so she persisted again, only this time she licked his ear and nibbled on his lobe gently. Nick laughed nervously, then became strangely silent. His body became rigid and he pushed his knees against the front seat to push himself back, prompting some complaints from Howie. "Geez, you two, will you chill OUT back there?"

Nick laughed again, nervously and looked away from Angela, towards Sandra and Brian. At first she didn't understand what the sudden commotion was with him, but then she felt it, hard against her leg. "Oh my God," she said in shock.

"Shut up," Nick said quietly, covering his face.

Angela giggled louder, unintentionally, but she was EMBARRASSED. She couldn't help but think of Kim Ann's request. "Oh, my God," she said again, giggling uncontrollably.

"Shut UP," Nick pleaded, louder. They were both giggling together by now, but she could tell that Nick was desperate to keep his predicament unknown to the others. Still, she couldn't stop laughing. Nothing like this had ever happened to her before.

"I am SO...sorry," Nick said repeatedly, trying in vain to move her away from him as she continued snickering.

Angela didn't know what to say to comfort him or make him less perplexed about the situation, so she said nothing. In a way, she was aroused herself that she'd gotten him that excited and found herself wishing that the others weren't in the vehicle with them anymore. Teasingly, she pressed her leg hard against him as he tried to resist.

Nick made one more plea. "Angela, stop it, okay?" He couldn't look at her and she could tell he was most fearful about the others finding out.

Before Angela could apologize for her insensitivity, she realized they were pulling into the Alley.

"Weeeeee're heeeeeeeeere," Kim Ann shouted out as she parked the car. She turned to the back seat passengers. "Are y'all done making out back there?"

"Can't you drive around a little longer?" asked Brian. "I was just getting ready to grab Sandra's boobies."

Sandra's mouth dropped and she shoved at Brian. "You were NOT!" she said, emphatically.

"You don't know that," said Brian, laughing, faking a grab at her with both hands.

"Stop it!" Sandra yelled this time, grabbing his hands and pushing them away. "Gawd!" She pulled away from him, thrusting Angela into Nick sharply.

"OW!" Nick yelled from the impact. "Will you watch what your fucking doing?!?" he yelled out in pain.

"You don't have to be a DICK, Nick!" Brian shouted back at him, defending Sandra.

"I'm sorry, man, but it HURT, Brian," Nick replied just as defensively.

AJ leaned into the passenger side door. "Did she hit your package, man?"

"No," Nick snarled at him, still in pain.

AJ pulled out of the car and turned to Howie and Kim Ann. "She hit his package, man."

"AJ!" Nick yelled out at him from inside the car, starting to laugh a little bit as the pain was subsiding.

Brian and Sandra were now out of the car and everyone was waiting for Nick and Angela. Angie turned to Nick and asked shyly. "Um...is it okay to get out now?"

Nick couldn't look at her still. "Yes," he answered, looking out the window.

Hesitantly, Angela pulled out of the car. She wanted desperately to look back and see if it was REALLY "safe" to get out, but she didn't want to further humiliate Nick, so she didn't.

Slowly, Nick got out of the car and shook his legs. He made sure his dress shirt was over "the area" and put his hand on Angela's shoulder. "Let's go," he said nonchalantly as if nothing had ever happened.

There were only two cars besides Kim Ann's parked outside the Alley. One belonged to Gary, probably, but who did the other one belong to, Angela thought to herself. No big deal. Probably a leftover from a drunk who couldn't drive home.
