"Now, make sure you bring some sexy lingerie. You know so that when you ride the TRAIN you will look sexy!" Kim Ann giggled as her friend tried to look serious.
"My Lord, Kim Ann, you really need to get out more. You are awefully concerned with my sex life," Skylar laughed as she packed her luggage for her vacation with Kevin.
"I am living vicariously through you. I mean if Howie would come to his senses and see that I am the only Canadian hootchie he needs then I wouldn't need to be all up in your sex life, but until then it's all about me baby," Kim Ann handed her friend a rust coloured wool turtleneck and her polar vest. "You will need this, it gets chilly up there."
Kevin and Sklyar had decided that instead of spending time in their home towns, they planned a trip to Vail where they could ski and spend time alone, without the interruption of work or friends. Skylar was very nervous and was having second thoughts about going on the trip. She wasn't sure if she was ready to spend a week alone with Kevin. She knew that it was easy to spill her feelings out to him through the email but when she was within an arm length of him she wasn't sure if she would be able to even speak
Kim Ann touched her friend's hand. "Don't be scared Skeelo, this is what you have always dreamed of; it is happening right before your eyes. Go and let destiny do it's magic. Besides, the hootchies will kick your ass if they find out that you turned down the world's sexiest rocker."
Skylar laughed and hugged her friend.

"I am on the plane that is taking me to see the man who consumes my thoughts but who also scares me. I am afraid that after spending a couple of days with me that he will see that I am a phoney who can write beautiful emails but who cannot carry on a decent conversation without blushing or stammering. Maybe when he sees that I am not the diva who he first laid eyes on in Ottawa, maybe when he sees that I am a plain and boring girl who is more comfortable in worn jeans and wool sweaters he will realize that he was wrong; that the girl he dreams of is one who always looks stunning, with the perfect makeup and hair. I am the type of girl who is more comfortable curling up on a couch in my flannel pj’s and a pint of Ben and Jerry's Triple Fudge Brownie Explosion watching cheesy 80's movies, than the girl who would like to go to movie premiers and mingle with people who would slit your throat if it meant they got a bit part in a movie. I guess I will soon find out."
Kevin read the email and smiled. The thing that had first attracted him to Skylar was the truthful way she spoke about everything. He also liked that beneath the confident persona, there was a young girl who was shy and unsure of herself. He turned off his computer, he would reply to her message when he saw her in person. He pulled his v-neck sweater over his head and put on his down filled vest and jumped in the Explorer that he had rented for the week. He turned on the music and drove from the rented chalet to the airport to pick up Skylar.

Skylar had found her luggage and was sitting on the bench that overlooked the runway. She had always been fascinated with planes. When she was younger she used to sit on her swing in the backyard and watch the planes fly overhead. She used to close her eyes and imagine that she was on that plane and dream that it was taking her to some tropical island, her fantasies always seemed better than her real life.
She was staring out at the plane that was taxiing down the runway when she felt someone standing behind her. Her face broke into a huge smile when she saw Kevin standing in back of her. He was dressed in worn jeans, a v- neck sweater, down vest and hiking boots. He looked like a country boy and not the fashion plate that she had come to know.
"Hi Kevin," Skylar stood up and hugged him, pasting in her memory his musky smell and the way his arms held her tight.
Kevin kissed the top of her head and smiled as he smelled the strawberry scent from her hair. "How was the flight?" He took her suitcase in one hand and held her small hand in his other.
Skylar's heart was beating as she felt the heat transfer from his hand to hers “It was fine."
The two walked through the airport and shivered as they walked into the crisp air. Kevin let go of her hand as he put her luggage in the trunk and unlocked the door.
Kevin started the car and turned to her "Would you like to go back to the chalet first or get a bite to eat?"
"I don't have to change so why don't we go exploring? Let's walk around and maybe we will find a little cafe or something?" Skylar suggested.
Kevin smiled at the petite girl beside him "Sounds great."

"Oh my God, that chicken stew was so good! I am so stuffed I am going to have to walk back to Ottawa to wear it all off," Skylar held her stomach as they walked down the street.
"Skylar....look it's Kathie Lee....you know Kathie Lee Gifford." Kevin whispered and pointed at the woman who was walking with two blonde children.
"My nana never misses her show! Do you think it would be rude if I asked her for a picture?" Skylar asked excitedly.
"No it's not rude; we have done her show a couple of times and she was always really nice, come on." Kevin walked over to Kathie Lee and introduced himself.
"Of course you can have a picture," Kathie smiled brightly at Skylar, "come on over doll."
Skylar smiled and moved closer to Kathie and both women smiled as Kevin took the picture."Why don't we get Cody to take a picture of the three of us?" Kathie suggested.
"That was so neat, thanks for asking her Kevin," Skylar smiled at Kevin, who was laughing at how starstruck Skylar had become.
"Kevin is this all right or should I change? I mean, you won't tell me where we are going to eat so I am having a hard time deciding on what to wear." Skylar walked out from her bedroom and into Kevin's, who was fixing his hair. Kevin dropped his brush and looked at Skylar's reflection in the mirror.
"Skylar, you are a vision," Kevin admired the way the black cashmere sweater clung to her small body, the way the short black knit skirt stopped mid thigh. He smiled when he saw that she had worn her shiny hair loose and hanging around her shoulders.
Skylar blushed "Well, you aren't so bad yourself Mr. Richardson," she smiled, observing the way his black pants flowed over his legs, the way the black knit turtleneck clung to his nicely chisled chest.
"Well now that we have given each other the once over, are you ready?" Kevin asked, holding out her leather jacket for her to slip into.
"As ready as I ever will be." Skylar belted her jacket and took Kevin's hand as they walked out into the snow.

"It is so funny that at home I wake up everyday and wish the snow would disappear, but here I can't wait to get back into it" Skylar and Kevin were talking as they drove to dinner.
"It's funny, but living in Orlando makes me realise how much I want to live in a place where the snow falls, where when I am cold I can turn on the fireplace and cuddle. You miss things like that living in Orlando." Kevin looked over and saw Skylar looking out the window. He reached across the seat and ran his finger over her face.
"Penny for your thoughts?" Kevin asked softy.
"I was just thinking about how much Mikey would love this, skiing and running in the snow."
Kevin tried to keep his eyes and thoughts on the road but he couldn't control his emotions. Here was this beautful and special woman who he knew he was meant to be with, and she was thinking of a homeless boy.
"Skylar, do you know why I care for you so much?" Kevin placed his hand on her back and rubbed, "you are always thinking about someone else, here we are in the most romantic of settings and you are thinking about how much Mikey would love all this snow," Kevin brought her gloved hand to his lips and kissed it.
Skylar felt the blood rise to her cheeks and smiled.

Kevin pulled up in front of a small chalet and shut off the engine. "As much as I would love to stare at your beautiful legs all night, you might get chilly and ruin the surprise," Kevin held out his hand and helped her out of the truck. She shivered slightly and grinned when he grabbed a napsack and took her gloved hand and led her into the chalet.
Skylar walked into the tiny house and sat down on the cold couch "What is this place?" she asked.
"You'll see. Now, let's get the wood stove going," Kevin grinned as he went off in search of wood. Skylar breathed into her cupped hands and rubbed them. She was getting cold but didn't want to spoil Kevin's surprise. She laughed as he fiddled with the stove and she smiled when she felt the warm air start to defrost her toes, which were cold in her boots.
"Now, we have to get you dressed," Kevin smiled and sat down beside her. He helped her out of her jacket and handed her a pair of ski pants and a parka.
"What are you up to?" Skylar giggled as Kevin placed her feet in between his legs and pulled off her boots. "Hmm this little piggy looks cold" Kevin whispered to her baby toe "Better warm it up" and he rubbed it gently. He pulled wool socks over her feet and placed them into a pair of skates.
"Oh Kevin, " Skylar said smiling as he tied up the laces and knotted them. He did up his own skates and pulled his parka hood over his head.
He offered her a mittened hand and the two walked to the small rink that was behind the house. Skylar smiled when she saw the pillar candles lighting the rink and the music of Brian McKnight playing on a portable cd player. "Kevin this is incredible. You are the most special and amazing man I have ever met," Skylar smiled and stepped out onto the ice. The two skated to the strains of Back at One and they skated until their cheeks were rosey and their feet were numb.
"We can't finish the skate without a fancy move,"
Kevin
laughed as he picked up Skylar and spun her around. Skylar held out
her
arms and closed her eyes laughing, she was imagining she was flying
until
she felt something cold on her face and realised that Kevin had lost
his
balance and the two were in the snow. They were both laughing when
Kevin
could no longer control the urge that had been growing all day and he
brought his lips onto hers. The two lay in each other’s arms in the
snow,
kissing. They unlocked breathless, half from the cold but mostly from
the
exchange that had just taken place. She looked up into Kevin's brown
eyes
and smiled shyly. "Well Mr. Richardson I do belive you are trying to
seduce
me" the couple cracked up lauging and as Kevin was brushing himself off
with
snow, Skylar planted a snowball right on the back of his head.
Kevin turned around shocked and then laughed evily "Prepare to die," and
he
threw a snowball back at her.
