Watching her lips move softly as she spoke to him of her life in college between bites of fluffy Buttermilk pancakes drowned in rich Maple syrup, he longed to kiss her. Her bright smile and innocent eyes drove him crazy with desire. He wanted nothing more than to watch her the rest of her life. All his worries as well as his responsibilities escaped his mind as the beauty opposite him opened her heart to reveal a depth he had never seen in someone so young. She was a few years younger than him, but old enough to know what she was doing.
Shyly lowering her eyes as she sipped the rich French Vanilla coffee which she clutched in both hands, she captivated him with a mysterious air and a feeling of mystique. He could feel the attraction between them was as strong as his desire to reach out to her and whisk her away from her college troubles into a life of luxury, a life without pain…in his arms.
Minutes turned to hours in the small bed-and-breakfast they had walked to in the crisp morning air. It was a little after dawn when they had arrived and the streets were empty. Now, the hustle and bustle of LA was filling the air as traffic began to block the Strip. Glancing away from her for a second, he noticed there were quite a few more people out, some old, others young. Many were teenagers.
Thinking this odd, he looked a little closer. They seemed to be watching the café. Glancing down, he noticed the pass and remembered who he was. Snapping back into reality, he interrupted his newfound friend, emphasizing the urgency of their departure. He hurriedly took the check and asked the waiter to call them a cab. On his cell, he contacted security. A quick escape would be necessary.
Looking down at his watch, he noticed three hours had passed. The guys would all be up by now and some may have already made it down to the arena for early morning practice and sound checks. He would have to call Brian from the cab to see where he should meet them. There was no doubt this would not go over well with the rest of the guys.
Surveying the growing number of adolescents collecting on the sidewalk
or
waiting in nearby cars, he knew his tardiness would be the least of his
troubles. Turning back to his angel, he saw Nikki had noticed the
dilemma. She squeezed his hand in support and reassured him with her
soft, sensitive green eyes. Her luscious lips turned up into a smile,
letting him know she would help him through whatever ordeal lay ahead.
