The concert day had finally arrived. She checked into the hotel the night before and got up really early to chat with her bellboy friend and watch for any opportunities… As they talked in the early morning, someone else came into the lobby. His pass attracted her attention first. It was all-access. Her eyes crept up to his face. A smile of recognition formed on her lips. She left her bellboy friend, saying “opportunity knocks!”
He had also stopped and began walking toward her. She had seen him often with Nick. A smile lit up his face. He was a Latino man in his mid-20s. He was clean cut and well built. She felt attracted to him immediately, but had to stay focused. Her goal was Nick and this man provided the perfect opportunity to get to him.
They spoke for a moment in the lobby. He said he was on his way to watch the sunrise. He asked if she’d like to join him. She smiled and accepted the invitation. The sky became a beautiful picture painted with the brightest oranges, yellows and reds. The world began to shine in the first light.
Dew sparsely covered the grass and made the earth glisten. It was breathtaking. As the first glorious moments of the morning began to fade into dawn, he turned to her and asked if she’d like to get some breakfast with him, his treat. Her smile was enough to tell him she accepted.
As they walked back in, he told her of his fascination with the sunrise. He said he usually liked to watch it alone. She was the first person he shared this special moment with in years. His sister, who had recently passed away, had opened his eyes to the glory of the morning. She was the last person he had shared the moment with before joining up with the band. From then on, it became his solo time, the few minutes of the day he had to himself.
She thought it was sweet that he’d share such a moment with her and
wanted
to keep him talking to her, but she didn’t want to get too close. She
had
to keep her goals in mind, even though he was a very nice distraction.
