Chapter Six: A Break in the Monotony

New places, new faces. After a night-long drive, it was good to have a rest. The traffic had been ugly and the fan encounters unnerving. One had even gone so far as to try to run them off the road! Nearly everyone else had fallen asleep, but he couldn’t sleep on the bus if he wanted to. It was too bumpy, anyway. He didn’t understand how they all slept so peacefully for the hours they drove on and on.

They checked into the hotel very early. It was a nice, secluded one located on a residential street. It was close enough to the action to allow them to sneak off for some fun, but removed enough to ensure their safety. He had slept for a few hours, but, as always, he was up in time for sunrise. He went to the window to discover a blocked view. Disappointed, he decided to go down to the lobby to find a better spot.

Looking down at himself in the elevator, he noticed he was still wearing his dark outfit and all-access pass from the night before, but he didn’t care. Besides, hotel security was the best and, even if someone did make it past them, who would be up that early?

As he walked to the east side of the lobby, he noticed a bright young woman with shining hair, beautiful eyes and a stunning smile. She was talking to a bellboy across the room. She vaguely reminded him of someone. Had they met? She glanced over his way and seemed to notice him, too. A look of recognition came onto her face.

As she took a step toward him, his mind flashed back to his dreams. He felt as if he was looking straight into the eyes of his silhouetted dream girl. Only, this time her features were bright and clear. She was more beautiful than he could ever have imagined. He stepped towards her and met her in the middle of the room...
