“How can it be you’re asking me to feel the things you never show.” Eyes closed and heart bared; he belted out the tune at the group’s practice with the constant image of a silhouette sticking in his mind.
“No, no, no. I think you need to stop now. Where did that come from? I know people have off days sometimes, but you… Man, I didn’t know anyone could have so many in a row!”
“Man, Bri! Do you gotta dis me? What’s up with that! As if you’re all that perfect. I’ve HEARD you on a ‘not-so-good’ day so don’t EVEN get me started.”
“No, I don’t think so. I’ve NEVER been THAT off. Come on, man, you’re starting to throw me off!”
“Okay, fine, I’ll leave you be with your perfect voice and catch you later.”
Smiling, he walked away from the other guys. They were always teasing each other. Brian had to be his best friend, of all the guys. They were the most unlikely friends, but they got along so well! Right now, he had to help prepare everything for tonight. They all practiced their individual parts and got ready for the evening. In a few hours, they’d all get together to say a quick prayer. Then the show would start. That was always a lot of fun, but it meant he had to deal with the fans, who could be a little obnoxious sometimes!
Through all the odd jobs he did to help set up for the concert, his mind drifted. It always seemed to end up on the image of the silhouetted woman of his dreams. He had to meet her someday! It was so hard to be on the road. He never met anyone who wasn’t totally obsessed and a little scary. And, if he did, they would only be in town long enough to say hello.
It wasn’t even worth it to try to meet someone and become involved in a
serious relationship unless they were back in Orlando for some time
off…and he couldn’t remember the last time they had some of that!
Though
the predicament they were in often looked dismal, he had hope. He
would
meet the girl from his dreams someday soon. That he was sure of.
