Playing with a lock of her luscious curly hair, she flirtatiously conversed with Nick. She played it cool, acting like her behavior was normal. He was very nice to her. He probably liked her, but just didn’t show it. She asked him all about what it was like to be a famous performer. He told her it was difficult at times, but the fans made it worthwhile. She smiled. She was sure this meant something. She could feel it all starting. Her wildest dreams were beginning to come true.
After talking awhile about his experiences, he asked her about her own. She told him she came from a smaller city a couple of hours east of LA.
“I came in last night to be here in time for the show tonight. I had to find a hotel to stay in for a couple of nights, so I went to his nice, private one off of the Strip. My dad has stayed there on business and was impressed by it because you’re able to get way from the insanity of the city without removing yourself from the heart of it. I guess, from what I learned this morning, that you guys stay there too. Pretty cool, huh!”
Nick smiled. He seemed a bit uncomfortable that she knew where they were staying. Most fans wouldn’t be smart enough to figure it out. He seemed to buy into her small fib, though. His eyes glazed over so she could not read his emotions and he put on a fake smile.
“So, how did you and ‘D’ meet?” he questioned with a mischievous glint in his eye.
It took her a moment to understand who he was talking about. Then she flashed back to the morning and how she had gotten there.
“Oh, we met in the lobby this morning. He’s very nice. He invited me to breakfast with him…and the rest is history.”
Nick smiled a quick half-smile and said it was nice to chat, but he had to get to his pre-show chores before it got too late. As he hurried off, she couldn’t help but wonder what he thought of her. She took her compact out of her purse and began to fix her hair and reapply her makeup. She realized she would have to look her best to catch this man.
Now she saw that he wouldn’t fall deeply and passionately in love with
her
at first sight, but it would take a little time. It looked like she
might
have to use her newfound friendship with D to get a little farther.
Though it was against every moral fiber in her body, she would have to
use
him a bit longer to get to her true love. Though she knew it was
wrong,
she thought it would be better than losing Nick forever. He was
everything. He was her future. D would get over his crush. Her love
for
Nick was much deeper. It was true love while she was probably no more
than a cheap fling for D.
