The night before AJ leaves to go on tour-
Sky and AJ got along great the two weeks before the tour neither one could believe the time had gone so fast. AJ told Sky that he has something special planned for the night before they left. Sky had been trying for the last week to get it out of him but he wouldn't tell her anything but that it wasn't formal, to wear something comfortable and to be ready by 6:30 p.m.
She took one last glance at herself in the mirror before heading downstairs, she had on a long black drawstring skirt and red and black baby T-shirt, her blonde tresses hung inches below her shoulders.
"Are you nervous?" Jem asked looking up from her book.
"Yeah a little, I just can't take the suspense, that's all", Sky replied.
Just then Sky saw a black stretch limo pull up and Brian get out caring what look to be a piece of cloth in his hand.
"What is going on?" Sky asked as a smile stretched across Jem's face.
"Have fun", Jem said knowing she would. AJ had called her earlier this week and told Jem what he planned on doing.
"See ya, Jem", Sky said as she walked outside to meet Brian on the porch.
"Hey what is going on, Brian?" Sky asked as Brian wrapped the blindfold around her head.
"I am sworn to secrecy", Brian said as he escorted her to the limo.
It seemed like forever until the limo came to a stop and Brian grabbed her hand leading her out of the limo and down a set of steps. She could smell the sea and feel the sand beneath her. She loved the ocean, her and AJ spent hours on the beach as children, he had always said it was their special place. She could hear the waves crashing upon the shore, as they came to a halt. Brian left go of her hand and quietly said, "Here we are, keep your blindfold on."
"Where is here?" She asked as Brian quietly walked away.
"Hey B…" she trailed off as she heard someone walk up behind her. She heard a soft yet familiar voice singing behind her.
"From the first day, that I saw your smiling face, hunny I knew that we would be together forever", AJ sung as he caressed her shoulders and removed her blindfold.
He finished singing the song, serenading her as they slow danced right there on the beach, as the waves crashed beneath their feet. No one else existed at that very moment but them.
After he finished he kissed her hand telling her how beautiful she looked. They sat on a quilted blanket and ate a wonderful meal that AJ had prepared himself and packed in a picnic blanket. After dinner they laid on the blankets and listen to the ocean, as they talked about how much they would miss each other and how they would write and call everyday. The evening ended as they made love on the beach, the night was so perfect neither one of them ever wanted it to end.
As they sat in the airport terminal, there was a sense of excitement and sadness. It was still hard for the boys to leave their family and friends. Don't get me wrong they loved what they did for a living and the fans, but they also hate being away from the people they loved for so long. AJ just sat there staring at the floor, he hated this part of his job. He hated leaving her behind, he felt like was losing her all over again. "It's only 2 months", he kept repeating to himself.
"I am going to miss you", Sky said as she laid her head on his shoulder.
AJ couldn’t look at her, he knew he would cry if he did, “Just come with me, Sky baby, please.”
“AJ don’t I already told you I can’t please don’t do this to me now”, Sky replied.
Just then their road manager came over and told them it was time to go. Sky quietly stood up and gave them all a hug saving AJ for last. She told the guys good-bye and that she would miss them all. She turned around to find AJ just standing there with tears running down his cheeks. She was trying so hard not to cry but just seeing him like that she couldn’t hold the tears back any longer. The rest of the guys said good-bye to everyone else and headed for the terminal giving AJ and Sky some time alone. They just stood there in silence holding each other, neither one wanting to let go. They could hear Kevin yelling, “Come on AJ, we really need to get going.”
AJ sighed as he said, “God I am going to miss you so much”.
“I’m going to miss you too, but it will go fast babe don’t worry”, Sky replied as she gave him a long tender kiss.
With that AJ turned around and headed towards the terminal, stopping once to blow Sky a kiss. She stayed there and watched the plan take off. When the plane was out of side she slowly turned around and left knowing that these next 2 months were going to be the hardest and longest months of her life.
1 * months after AJ left –
The last month and a half had been hard, but she consumed herself in her work. She had a week vacation coming up so she decided to surprise AJ and fly up to see him. They were in New York performing and they had a 5 day break after their concert. She had called Brian to tell him what has going on and to find out what hotel they would be in. She was sitting on her bed packing as Jem came in.
“So when do you leave”, Jem asked.
“Eight-thirty tomorrow night”, Sky replied.
“You won’t get there till late then”, Jem remarked.
“Yeah I know I wanted to surprise him at hotel after the show.”
“Have fun and give me a call so I know you are okay”, Jem said. “Well I am going to bed, goodnight Sky.”
“Goodnight”, Sky said as she zipped up her suitcase and got into bed.
The next morning when Sky woke up Jem had already left for work,
she had gotten the job at Jive doing promotions. She ran some
errands that she need to get done before she left, stopping off at and
old bookstore to get AJ a present. He had been talking about
wanting this one poetry book, so she decided to stop and pick it up.
The day had gone by so fast before she knew it, it was already 6 and
she needed to get ready to go. She double-checked her suitcases to
make sure she hadn’t forgot anything. The girls loaded Sky’s stuff
into the car and they headed towards the airport. Traffic was horrible
so they got there only 10 minutes before the flight was going to
leave. Jem quickly hugged her friend and told her good-bye and to
tell the guys hello and that she missed them. Sky headed towards the
terminal turning around to give Jem a quick wave goodbye with a
smile on her face she disappeared into the plane.
