As AJ awoke the next morning he found Sky asleep in his arms, he wanted to hold her like this forever. As the events of last night replayed in his mind he couldn’t help but smile. He kissed her forehead as he thought to himself how happy and peaceful she looked. His thoughts were interrupted by the buzzing of his alarm clock, he quickly reached around to shut it off before it woke Sky. There on the nightstand beside the clock was a picture of him and Vanessa.
“Oh God, what have I done”, he thought to himself.
He laid there not knowing what to do, he cared for Vanessa but, his feelings for Sky were so strong and true. She had been his one true love since he could remember, she knew him like no one else. She saw him as Alex, not AJ from the Backstreet Boys. “But what if she didn’t feel the same way”, he thought to himself as he caressed her cheeks.
Just then Sky awoke. She realized where she was and smiled. She looked into his eyes and gave him a gently kiss on his soft lips.
“Good Morning my sweet lady” he said with a smile.
Just then Sky noticed a picture of AJ and Vanessa on the nightstand beside them. The smile slowly erased from her face as she realized what she had done last night.
She quietly said, “Oh umm…good morning,” as she stood up heading to for the bathroom.
AJ lay in his bed stunned at what had just happened. He offered her a T-shirt and boxers as she headed to the bathroom. She nodded her head in approval as she kept walking. AJ hung the clothes on the door of the bathroom before he headed downstairs to make some breakfast. Just as the eggs finished, AJ heard the front door open.
“ Sweet D is in the house!” Howie yelled from just inside the door.
AJ couldn’t help but laugh at his friends. Just as he walked out to the living room to greet his friends, Sky unknowingly came down the steps dressed in AJ’s clothes. She just stood still as they all stared at her then AJ. Before a word could be spoken Sky greeted the guys with a cautious “hello” and asked Brian to take her home.
“Sure” Brian said confused.
“Okay let me just grab my other clothes”, Sky quickly muttered as she ran back up the steps.
AJ stood there as his friends stared at him all hoping what they thought didn’t happen.
“Ummm….what the hell is going on here”, Kevin piped up.
2 weeks later –
Two weeks went by without AJ and Sky even talking. They both missed each other and were confused about what to do, and it didn’t help much when Sky found out that AJ was still with Vanessa even after what they shared together that night. She was convinced that night meant nothing to him. Sky went about like nothing had happened she told Jem and the guys about it and they were all upset with the fact that AJ was still seeing Vanessa, but what could she do, she couldn’t make him love her. Just then the phone rang in Sky room. She picked it up nervous about who might be on the other end.
“Hey Sky, what’s up” Brian asked as Sky breathed a sigh of relief.
“Oh nothing I was just sitting here, thinking. What are you up too today B-Rok?” Sky asked.
“Nothing really Nick is here and we were wondering if you wanted to go and get a bite to eat and go catch a movie. You know we are leaving to start the tour in about two weeks and I want to spend some time with you before we leave”, he said.
“I know B I didn’t forget, I just didn’t want to think about you guys being away for 2 months, that’s all. Let me get a quick shower and I will be over”, she replied happy to know that she would have something to do rather than sitting around thinking of AJ.
As Sky got in the closet to grab her coat she heard Jem yell, “Hey, where are you going?”
Startled Sky said “Oh hey Jem I am heading over to meet Brian and Nick we are going to get something to eat and go to the movies, you want to come along?”
“Sure”, Jem said as she grabbed her coat.
Sky opened the door to discover AJ standing there ready to ring the doorbell. Jem just looked at Sky as she said, “Um…I am just going to go and wait in the car.”
“I need to talk to you”, AJ said as Jem passed him in the doorway.
“I’m sorta on my way somewhere” Sky said with anger.
“Sky, I REALLY need to talk to you”, AJ replied in a tone that Sky knew was serious.
Sky yelled out to Jem before she got into the car, “Jem, do you mind just meeting them without me, tell them that I have something I need to take care of.”
“Sure Sky, no problem I’ll talk to you later”, Jem said with concern in her voice.
As Sky and AJ walked over to the couch he couldn’t help but realize how much he had missed her. Without thinking he grabbed her and gave her a hug.
Hesitantly, Sky pulled away, “What do you want?”
AJ could hear the hurt in her voice, he felt bad about what he had done. He knew that he had screwed up.
“I just wanted to tell you that I am so very sorry for the way I have been acting” he said remorsefully.
“How many times am I going to hear that before you actually start acting like it? You are always saying you are sorry but then you never mean it”, Sky said emotionally.
“Yes I do Sky, I love you, you should know that by now” AJ said hurt.
“Oh what the same way you love your girlfriend Vanessa?” Sky yelled.
“I broke up with Vanessa a week after we made love, I couldn’t be with someone that I didn’t truly love, I love YOU Sky not her”, he said with tear in his eye. “The night we spent together meant so much to me, that is the first time I ever truly made love to someone. The next morning holding you in my arms was the best feeling in the world, I knew then that I wanted to be with you forever.”
“Why didn’t you call me AJ? I just assumed that you wanted nothing to do with me after that night?” she questioned him.
“No, it was nothing like that, I was afraid that you didn’t feel the way I did and that would of crushed me. I was afraid that I would lose your love and your friendship and I couldn’t bare it.”
“AJ, I love you so much you will never lose me” Sky said as she cupped his head in her hands laying a meaningful kiss on his lips. She took his hand and led him up the stairs to her bedroom.
She kissed his forehead as she got up to get dressed. She had just hung up the phone with Brian. He had called and wanted them to go out clubbing with the guys and Jem. AJ couldn't help but gaze at her beauty.
"Sky, will you be my girl?" AJ asked blushing.
She turned around in the doorway, "AJ baby, I'll always be your girl." She said as he stood up to give her a hug.
"I can't believe we have to go on tour in two weeks", he said pouting.
"It is only 2 months AJ, things will be fine", she said realizing how much she would miss him.
"Sky why don't you come with me?" AJ pleaded.
"Baby you know I can't I have to start work 2 days after you leave", Sky replied. She had recently been hired by Nickelodeon to do fashion consulting for a couple of there shows. She was excited to start her new job but she also wanted to go on tour with AJ to support him.
"I know I just wish you would have took the job your uncle offered you so you could go on tour with us"; he said staring into her eyes.
"AJ I told you I didn't want to get a job just because of who my uncle is…I wanted to get a job because they think I am good at what I do", Sky said as she quickly kissed him.
"I understand, I just wish that you could come with me", AJ said trying no to let her hear the hurt in his voice.
"We better get going, I told Brian we would meet him at his house
15 minutes ago", she said as she added the finishing touch of
makeup. AJ grabbed his clothes and got dressed, he just really
wanted to spend some alone time with Sky but he knew how much
she wanted to go out and see the other guys. "God, I am going to
miss her", he said to himself as he got into the car. He took her hand
in his as they drove off to meet Jem and the fellas.
