They sauntered through the door laughing and prattling like they were on top of the world. Denise walked up to them in concern.
"AJ, are you ok?"
"Yup. I'm all fine and dandy now!" he replied with a big grin.
"That's great! Why the big mood change?" It wasn't that she wasn't happy for him. In fact, she was ecstatic that he felt so giddy and well, but how did his whole attitude change in a matter of sixty minutes? "Why am I a happy peppy person, you ask? Because I finally met the woman of my dreams," he said smiling and putting his arms around Toni's small waist.
" You two are together?" They both nodded. "Oh how sweet!"
AJ looked at his mother and burst out laughing.
"Sorry to disappoint you, but it's not possible for you to become a grandmother. Sorry!"
"What?! That thought never crossed my mind!"
"Don't lie, Mom! I know what you're thinking!"
"Ok, fine. Why not?"
"Why not what?"
"Why can't I become a grandmother? I'd still love them, even if they did come out undead."
"Umm, that's not why. It's becauseâ€|" His face turned bright red. "It's cuz I'm impotent."
Denise's jaw dropped to the ground. "B-b-but, honey, you're so young!"
"It's not that. It's just that a lot of my bodily functions stopped working and producing little AJs happened to be one of them."
"Oh, does that mean that, uh..." She pointed to Toni. "You can't either?"
"Oh, I can.. Another characteristic of my clan. But only with another member of my clan or a human. But of course, I don't want that. I want you, hotstuff," she said smirking, then she slapped his butt. He jumped.
"Hey, hey, hey! Not in front of my Mom!" he said through clenched teeth.
"Oh, don't worry about me! I'll just go to bed. You two go about your business! Good night!"
She scurried up the stairs and disappeared. AJ plopped down on the couch.
"Ok, so what do you want to do now?" he asked innocently.
Toni gave him an "oh please" look. "AJ, you're mom went upstairs, we're alone in the living room, and your ass is sitting on a very comfy couch!"
"Yeah, so? Ohhhhhhh." He read her mind. "Toni! You naughty thing you."
"Hehe." She climbed onto his lap. "Purrrrrrrâ€|"
"Damn, you move fast, girl! We've only been an official couple for fifteen minutes!"
"You know you like it. Don't deny it."
"I didn't."
They engaged in another big juicy kiss. They were so caught up in the moment that they didn't realize that AJ was now lying on the couch and Toni had her body on top of him. If it wasn't for the fact that they were fully dressed, it would have looked like they were doing something totally different from just making out.
"Toni?" he said breathlessly still lip-locked.
"Hmm?"
"I love you."
"I love you, too."
And with that said, they continued on. Suddenly, the front door opened. Valencia stepped in and gasped at the sight before her. AJ looked from the corner of his eye.
"Val!"
He quickly sat up, forgetting that Toni had been on top of him, and therefore, a loud thud resulted from her butt making contact with the living room floor. She sat there, staring at AJ in shock.
"Val, h-h-how ya been?" he asked as if nothing happened.
Valencia smirked. "Not nearly as well as you, I see."
AJ gave a small embarrassed chuckle then helped a very bright red Toni off the floor.
"Umm, uh, we, uh, we were justâ€|"
"There's no need for you to explain, Alex, I'm not stupid. I knew this would happen sooner or later. What took you so long?"
They both turned a darker shade of red.
"Ok. I think I embarrassed you enough. I'll go to bed now. I'll see you at dusk." She started to leave, but AJ stopped her.
"Val, wait. What happened?"
"What?"
"With the Daemoniacus. What's the deal, what's going on?"
"They were expecting us. We fought long and hard, all day and all night. But we managed to decline their numbers as they succeeded in declining ours," she explained sadly.
"Oh, no! Anyone I know?!"
"I'm not sure. Did you know Inacio? I'm sure you have. He was the one who---"
"Escorted me to my room. I remember," he replied in a low tone of voice. "He was a nice guy."
"Yes, he was."
"Val, I told you I should've went with you! I could've helped! You would have had one more man on the field!"
"And one more hole in my heart. You had no chance. I wasn't going to risk your life, too. Especially since you have a mother who still needs you and now a beautiful girl by your side." She smiled at Toni who responded the same way. "I'll see you tomorrow, Alex. You, too, Antonia."
"See ya."
"Have a peaceful sleep, Valencia."
She left them to themselves.
"Ok, what do we do now?" AJ asked in a mock bored voice. Toni glared at him.
"I'm going to bed. Bye." She flipped her hair and started going up the stairs, leaving behind a gaping AJ.
"Toni, I was just kidding!"
She continued climbing the stairs and nodded her head 'no'. He tried following her, but she closed the door to his room in his face.
"Toni? Toni, come on," he whined, standing outside the door. "Open the door. Look, look, I'm doing the sad puppy face! Come on, you know you can't resist the sad puppy face!"
No response.
"Fine. Be like that. Bye." He turned to leave, but Toni opened
the
door. She reached out, grabbed his collar, pulled him inside, then
shut the
door.
