Example 1: Colloquialism
1.) TITUBA: "That don't look to me like His Majesty, look to me like the marshal." (pg. 1319)
2.) DANFORTH: "He bids her confess?" (pg. 1321)
3.) DANFORTH: "What think you, Mr. Parris?". . . (pg. 1324)

Example 2: Simile
1.) DANFORTH: "Mr. Hale, as God have not empowerd me like Joshua to stop the sun from rising. . . " (pg. 1325)
2.) TITUBA: "He freeze his soul in Barbados, but in Barbados he just as sweet and-" (pg. 1320)
3.) PROCTER: Tell them I confessed myself, say Procter broke his knees and wept like a wemon-. . ." (pg. 1332)

Example 3: Conflict
1.) (Conflict between Danforth and Parris.)
     PARRIS: "Excellency, I would postpone these hangin's for a time."
     DANFORTH: " There will be no postponement!" ( pg. 1323)
2.) (Conflict between Procter and Elizabeth.)
     PROCTER:  "I have been thinking I would confess to them...What say you?"
     ELIZABETH: "I cannot judge you, John." (pg. 1328)
3.) (Conflict between Procter and Danforth.)
    DANFORTH: "You will not sign it?"
    PROCTER: "You have all witnessed it; what more is needed?" (pg. 1332)

Example 4: Dialouge
1.) PROCTER: "Then how does he die?"
     ELIZABETH: gently: "They press him John."

Example 5: Imagery
1.) DANFORTH: "There is a prodgious stentch in this place." (pg.1320)

Example 6: Tone
1.) HALE: "It is no lie, they are innocent!"
     DANFORTH: "I'll hear no more of that!" (pg. 1326) (anger)
2.) ELIZABETH: quickly: "let me speak with him, Excellency."
     PARRIS: with hope. "You'll strive with him?" (pg. 1326) (hope)
3.) PROCTER: In agony. "No, I'll take my own, my own!" (pg. 1329)
