My name is Chris Polenski and I race a Ford Mustang in the Mini-Stock division at Hickory Motor Speedway in Hickory, NC on Saturday nights. Hickory Motor Speedway is a .363 mi. asphalt oval track.
My racing career got started when I was thirteen years old and ran Go-Karts in upstate NY. I ran Go-Karts for eight years. During that time I was '90 and '91 IKF champion and I won various track championships and had over 200 feature wins at various tracks in the northeast region.
In 1992 I bought a Sportsman car and ran that at Fonda Speedway in Fonda, NY, which is a 1/2 mi. oval dirt track. I also ran at Albany - Saratoga Speedway in Malta, NY, which is a 1/4 mi. oval dirt track. I ran that for two years. Then in 1995 I bought a Street Stock which I ran at Fonda Speedway also.
In January 1996 I moved to North Carolina. I bought a few Go-Karts and ran them at tracks around the Charlotte region. I then got hooked up with a local business man from Hickory who helped a great deal with sponsorship. He gave me a ride in one of his Carolina Mini Series cars for the '97 season. I was crew chief for him during the '96 and '97 seasons. We run those cars at Hickory Motor Speedway also.
