Brooke was Miss Winston of 1993. She visited victory lane with the winning drivers during that first season. There's an unwritten law in racing that says the drivers don't date the "Miss Winston" ladies. You know what they say about laws... they're meant to be broken.
During Daytona Speedweeks 1993, Jeff won the 125-mile Qualifying race for the Daytona 500. It was his first Winston Cup superspeedway race and the first time he had visited a Winston Cup victory lane. Amid the circus atmosphere in victory lane that day, Jeff noticed Miss Winston. "Jeff and I met in the Winner's circle in Daytona in 1993 when he won the Twin 125 race. He stole the trophy that day to become the youngest winner of that race ever. And... little did he know it, but that day he also stole my heart."
They met several time throughout the 1993 season making sure that nobody from NASCAR actually saw them together so that didn't "officially" break that unwritten rule. Eventually, word got out and Jeff was told by the officials that he couldn't date her. "Alright," he replied. "Then I'll marry her." |
