Biography

The Corrs are a truly unique phenomenon in the global music industry, the band is comprised of three sisters and their one brother, all in their 20s. Their music blends traditional Irish folk styles and each member of the band is involved in the writing, playing and, even, singing of their tremendously successful brand of pop.

Andrea, Caroline, Sharon and Jim grew up in Dundalk, Ireland, situated 50 miles north of Dublin right on the border of Ireland and Northern Ireland.Since expanding their bonds from family to band in 1990, things happened quickly for The Corrs. Shortly after forming, John Hughes, their future manager, discovered them while looking for musicians to take part in Alan Parker's film, The Commitments. The group became friends with John and accepted his invitation to perform in Dublin for part of a special Commitments live concert.

For the next four years, the Corrs wrote music and compiled demos and later began gigging at local pubs. The Corrs were lucky enough to have the U.S. Ambassador to Ireland, Jean Kennedy Smith, hear them in a small club in Dublin. Smith then invited the group to play in Boston as part of a World Cup celebration in Boston 1994. At the same time, the band seized the opportunity to meet with U.S. labels. Atlantic Senior Vice President Jason Flom suggested in turn that they meet with brilliant producer David Foster and it wasn't long before The Corrs were official Atlantic Group artists, with Foster signing on as producer and released their debut in 1995, Forgiven Not Forgotten (143/Lava/Atlantic).

The album sold more than eight million copies in Ireland and Australia, went gold in France, Canada, Norway, and Japan, double-platinum in Spain and Denmark, platinum in Sweden and triple platinum in the UK. On their premier tour, they toured across Europe, Australia and Southeast Asia, appeared at the Odense Festival of Denmark in front of 35,000 and at London's Fishbury park with Sting and the Chieftans in front of 50,000.

Their sophomore effort, 1997's Talk on Corners (143/Lava/Atlantic), incorporates a more melancholy and adventurous tint to their musical palette. As with their acclimed 1995 debut album, the new album is helmed by fourteen time Grammy Award-winning producer David Foster. Internationally, Talk on Corners has continued the incredible streak successes begun with the Corrs debut.

Talk on Corners has already logged sales of over 8 million copies worldwide. The album is 18x platinum in Ireland, 10x platinum in the UK, 6x platinum in Spain, 4x platinum in Australia, 3x platinum in Malaysia, 2x platinum in Singapore, Sweden and Denmark. In addition, Talk on Corners received platinum certification in New Zealand, Indonesia, France, Norway and the Philippines, as well as gold certifications in Japan, Italy, Portugal and Thailand.

In early 1999 the Corrs released Talk on Corners Special Edition, a remixed version of their second album. The original album has been reworked by some of Europe's hottest remix artists, including K- Klass, Tin Tin Out and Todd Terry.
