Combat is very exciting. In combat their are two planes flying in the same circle and both plane tows a streamer. The whole point is to cut the streamer off the other persons plane, the more cuts the more points. Also the more time in the air the more points. I think it is scored that you get a point for every second you are in the air and 100 points for every cut you make on the enemies streamer. The planes are very manueverable with tight loops up high common. Crashes happen all the time with midairs, line tangles and just forgetting where the ground is. It's great fun.
Above: My foam wing combat planes. They are called "bushcats" and are
easy and quick to build, also great to fly.
F2D is the internation combat event. The planes use 2.5cc engines and are flying wings. They move very very quickly and are very manueverable. I saw a combat plane once that flew off the lines and landed in a paddock a few kilometres away.
Slow combat is a combat event where the planes go slower than in F2D. 2.5cc engines are used and you must stay within a certain speed otherwise you may have to change your prop to slow down. The planes pictured above are slow combat planes.
Open combat is combat with a bigger engine. I think 6cc engines are used and they are much faster than slow combat planes.
