THE GALACTIC NEXUS WARS
Since the late 1960s I have always had a soft spot for the Federation and above all Star Fleet. Back in the late 70s I got into tactical war games, then shortly there after I found the first "Star Fleet Battles" system . I have played it on and off ever since, and have found the rules to be fine if somewhat cumbersome. I hear that "Federation And Empire" goes a long way in redressing the speed complaints but, as I have not purchased a set (been hard to find) I can't speak to that with authority as of yet. I will say this about the SFBs universe in general and all its' books, supplements and background information. It is by far the best and most highly developed "Trekverse" out there. In many respects the work done by the Amarillo Design Bureau are far superior to that of the canon Trekverse, in fact I can see the influence of ADB on the last season of DS9 ! That being said I will continue to buy the new races and game scenarios done by ADB no matter what games system I use, they are just too good not to.
In 1998 I discovered "Full Thrust" by Jon Tuffley, a truly fast and furious space battles game that although it has a background it is a system that can be and was designed to be very adaptable. A good many people have already made the transformation to Trek within the FT framework, allot of them can be found on the net. Some sadly are no longer up but hopefully that will change. What I intend to do here is to put up my own ( although admittedly heavily influenced ) conversions for both classic and next gen ships and a combined SFB and canon Trekverse. All will be converted into FT standard with a special emphasis on campaign games which are a personal favorite of mine.
