If no one's told you yet--Doug's milk commercial involved a couple of players asking him how he stays so good and him replyi g (obviously) "Milk". Then a trainer moves a cart of equipment that he was standing behind and you can see that his legs are black and white like a cow's. One of the players says something in French; the other one says, "You can say that again," and the French player says, "Holy cow." He also did several posters that were all over Toronto for a while; one of them featured Amy Gilmour as well. I think my favorite memory of Dougie was being in Toronto for the first time and seeing him interviewed after t e game. He had done one particularly impressive spin-move that the announcer was obssessed over and referred to several times during the game as "brilliant strategy", etc., etc. After the game he asked Doug how he came up with that move and Doug just sa d, "I had no idea what I was doing out there." |

Always and Forever | Comments: I have been a faithful Doug Gilmour fan for about 6 -7 years now since Toronto first acquired him. I have a Leaf room in my house which everyone calls my Doug Gilmour room, as it is full of mostly him. I have autographed cards and posters, a blown up ph tograph of Doug and myself from the first time I met him, (I have met him four times), and I have the full size milk advertisement with him in his cow legs, (I was given this one for my 30th birthday). It was one of my saddest days when the Leafs let him go, (my phone rang off the hook with condolences). I will not give up hope that before he retires he will once again be a Maple Leaf. Until then I will continue to try to get tickets to any games he plays in Toronto. I was lucky enough to get tickets f r the December 13th game last year against the Devils and was deeply touched by the presentation made to him which was greatly deserved. He brought more to the Leafs than anyone has done in a long time. Now I can only hope that I can get a hold of ticke s to the February 13th game against Chicago. Figures they change Toronto's division the year that we could have played Dougee a lot. I just want to say that this is a wonderful Web Page and if any one deserves to have a devotee page it is definitely Doug ilmour. THE GREATEST HOCKEY PLAYER EVER!!!!! |

At the pinnacle of his career, he was mediocre at best. So what if he had a 100+ point season. He was playing in a conference that never heard the word "defense", and whose players who had given or received a body check adds up to 93X0! His recent injury is only evidence of his weakened and frail condition. I suspect he'll "dog it" the rest of the regular season and show up for playoff time. Don't expect to see him very long though. The kind of leadership he provides will definitely mean a first-round playoff elimination for New Jersey. Most of his teama es will hit the golf course, but not Gilmour. He will head north of the border to Kingston and resume his womanizing and heavy drinking. His off-ice behavior prooves that he lacks the commitment needed for a Stanley Cup victory. The New Jersey Devils w uld do a great service to themselves and the fans by trading him immediately. Unfortunately for Dougie, there's no market for an injured, aged and drunken centerman. It's really a shame. He could have been so much more. P.S. Ha Ha. It's a joke people! Gilmour is the greatest thing that's happened to the Devil organization. They wouldn't be atop the Eastern conference without him. |
