Cornhusker State Winter Games
2001
Family Fest
Mahoney State Park and SAC Museum
(All of the below was included in the
entry fee)
As those in attendance at the 2001 Winter Games Family
Fest make their way to the Taco Bell fiesta in the SAC Museum's
Restoration Hangar, they'll likely see something they've never seen.
And, whether they consider themselves automobile enthusiasts or not,
the vintage Ferrari Automobiles on either side of the chow line will
catch more than a passing glance. Fest-goers were invited to take in
any or all of the Mahoney State Park activities, including: Trying
their hand at ice fishing at US West Lake.
Taking a speed slide or two down the lighted toboggan run.
Testing their skills on the automated climbing wall and simulated
golf/archery games. Strapping on some blades and skating around the
outdoor rink.
Gathering around the bonfire with friends and family.
Or taking a sleigh ride through the park.
At the SAC Museum there was the Taco Bell/Pipsi dinner.
All of the Museum's exhibits on display.
Entertainment provided by top acts from the 2000 Cornhusker State
Games
Gold Medal Talent Search.
And door Prizes donated by dozens of Nebraska businesses.
The arm wrestlers had to take it all in
and some of us pretended we were young again on the toboggan run.
"Oh, my knee!"
All of the above pulled at the tournament. Left to
Right: Brian Marshall, Misty Snipes, Lisa Hall, Nancy Leland, Miriah
Atkinson, Amber Atkinson, and Papa Bear Cliff Hall.
Many of the arm wrestlers proved that they are much
better on the table then on the ice. None the less, we all took
"hitting" the ice in stride.
John and Amber McConnaughey join Mariah in "Striking a
Pose".
