There is much to be heartened about by the Bees in their first two home games that I have seen, especially their performance against the Cobras. So much movement, so quick on the break out it was like watching the opposition!!!! If this is what Jim has in store for us this year then we have an exciting time ahead. I don't want to get complacent though, as we have the really big teams to face yet, although in some people's books the Cobras are a team to watch this year. Perhaps they had an off day, or maybe they are still getting to know each other, but whatever the reason, on the night they were totally outplayed by a Bees side that were eager to get the puck and fight for the team. If a bees player lost the puck in mid-ice, two other Bees were immediately on the scene to rob the Cobra. Teamwork is the essence of Jim's philosophy, and against the Cobras it showed. My apologies to Tom Gomes for labeling him a defender!!!! His hat trick shows just what a good forward he is, and with his tireless harrying and digging in the corners he will be an asset to the team. Only Matt and Rob had games that were not perhaps of the quality that we have come to expect from them. In the past this would have meant that the opposition could dominate - but with the calibre if the other defenders we have this was not the case last night.
Reports say that Jim is lining up a new defender who has Superleague experience - rumour has it that it is Scott Campbell. Whoever it is he can only bring even more solidarity to an already imposing line up. Having said that watch the response from other team's supporters if all doesn't go right!!!!!
