"Joe Ferraccioli was dismissed as Bracknell Bees lost 3-2 to Newcastle Cobras in the first of two challenge matches between the two ice hockey Superleague clubs over the weekend. Canadian forward Ferraccioli was given a game misconduct penalty on the half hour for being the third man into a bust up between team mate Brian Pellerin and Newcastle's Rick Brebant. (I have it on good authority that [p]Rick Brebant had cross-checked Pellers high up knocking him to the ice and cutting his chin - hence Joe's intervention. - Bobblehat) Bees were trailing 2-0 at the time, Vali scoring the only goal of the first period and Jamie Pegg netting less than 6 minutes into the second period.
Dennis Burke pulled one back for the Bees not long after Ferraccioli's dismissal Wayde Bucsis getting the assist. Chris Brant equalised 8 minutes into the third period with assists from Wayne Crawford and Dave Whistle. But Anthony Johnson sealed victory for the Cobras in the 52nd minute with assists going to Jonathon Weaver and Ross Lambert. Bees' new netminder Brian Greer was MOM as was Cobras netminder Steven Foster."
