OK, so just like last year, we're nowhere near the best team in the league. no surprises there, either. Traditionally, Bracknell have always been very near the bottom of the league. We do not have the means to match the larger, more successful teams in the league. However, this said, ownership by John Nike, who I’m assured is loaded, means that we can always guarantee financial stability. Last year we didn't finish bottom (which was a surprise in itself), and we look to be on the road to repeating that this season. So far we stand fifth in the league, we made the quarter-finals of the B+H Cup for the second year in a row, and we beat the Bison (snigger) in the Express Cup. So, we probably won't win anything again, but maybe we can surprise a few teams on the way, at least.
In terms of playing staff, Bracknell had the league’s top scorer last year in Dale Junkin, and one of the most impressive (and over-worked) goalies in Mark Bernard. Matt Cote has been amongst the best defender in the league since he arrived here eight years ago, whilst in Chris Brant we have one of the stars of the league. Jim Fuyarchuk, the head coach, deserves a mention (sod that, he deserves a medal!) for his excellent achievements since he arrived three years ago. He has taken a small budget, stuck to it, and fashioned a good team. Admittedly, there are few superstars, and we do not expect to finish in the top four, even. However, Jim has always said he would rather have a team rather than a group of individuals, and it is here that he has succeeded this season. All of the players give 100% effort and work together. We have one of the best forechecking teams in the league, which allows us to compete against the better teams, and we have some players who can play the puck beautifully (Chris Brant, for example).
