In my absence last week, Bees managed to draw at Ayr in the 2nd Leg of the B+H Quarter Finals, although they still went out 11-5 on aggregate! Norm Dezainde, Joe Ferraccioli and PC Drouin all scored to give the Bees a 3-0 lead, but it was 3-2 before Norm Dezainde scored again in the 2nd period. Then, last weekend in the Challenge Cup, they lost away at Newcastle 6-2. Chris Brant and Sal Manganaro got the two Bees goals.
Once again, I'll be away till next week, so I don't know if I'll get on to a computer before then....

tonight's Reading Evening Post reports that Bracknell beat London, Ayr and Manchester to Chasse's signature. Also, Paxton Schulte will miss two games with an injury.

In an excellent move by Dave Whistle, Bees have signed former NHLer Dennis Chasse. Dave has made no secret that he wants to sign a replacement for Frank LaScala, but that he would not rush into anything. Well, it seems his patience has paid off. Chasse has played 132 games in the NHL, mostly with St Louis Blues, and was third top scorer for the Blues in the 94/95 Play-offs. Last season, he played with Mannheim and Ausberg in the German DEL. Below is the Official Press Release:
BEES SWOOP FOR NHL HOTSHOT
The Bracknell Bees have signed their 20th player of the season, former NHL player Denis Chasse, 28 year old Chasse has played 132 games in the big league, 92 of them for St. Louis Blues.
In his rookie year, the 1994/95 season, Chasse scored 1+7 in the Stanley Cup play offs, and came third in the play-off scoring for St. Louis, behind Brett Hull (6+2) and Brendan Shanahan (4+5). With three games for the Washington Capitals, 15 for the Winnepeg Jets and 22 for the Ottowa Senators (in the 96/97 season) he will bring an enormous amount of experience to the Bees. Described as "the best player on our team" by Paxton Shulte, who played with Chasse for Cornwall Aces in the AHL, the French Canadian played last season in the DEL.
Chasse is expected to arrive in the UK in November, once hiw work permit is in place.
Here are his stats, which I will also add to the Career Guide

After last night's dismal performance, something better was required tonight at home to the Storm, and Bracknell did indeed step up a gear. Unfortunately, despite playing much better, they were down 4-3 in a tight match. Brad Rubaduk gave Storm the lead, but Bracknell clawed their way in front through goals by Jeff Johnstone and Dale Junkin. However, two goals by Super-tart and ex-Moo Moo Darren Hurley helped Storm take both points back to Manchester. Full details can be found here.

Bracknell were heavily defeated 7-1 at home by the Ayr Scottish Eagles, tonight, in the first leg of the Cup Quarter-finals. This result must surely leave qualification a remote possiblity now. More details will appear on the fixtures page when I have them.
This means that Bracknell have lost all three of their last games, although two were in overtime. Bracknell had been showing excellent form, winning their group in the B+H Cup, cruising past Paisley, and going to the top of the table after four games. However, does this result suggests that the other teams are now back with a vengence, and no-one seems to be taking the Bees lightly anymore? Only time will tell, but tomorrow's game against Manchester will give a good inication.

Sorry for the delay, but as the front page says, I've been away for the weekend. Bracknell lost both their matches over the weekend, losing 6-5 away at Nottingham and 5-4 at home to the London Knights. However, as both results were in Overtime, Bracknell still took 2 points from the weekend, and so sit proudly at the top of the ISL table! This is the highest position ever held by the Bracknell team in the ISL. We shall just have to wait and see whther it can last...

Here's some news on Wayde Bucsis, from a Norwegian Trondheim fan, Frank Lidahl:
Hi. More info about Bucsis: He's now on the top of the stats after 8 games. He's made 20 points in 8 games! He's just brilliant. We haven't really seen him on the ice, but he always delievers at the right time. He's our Mailman. He plays in the best line up in the league together with Dallas Gaume and Bie Dahl. Our problem is that they're the only line up to pick up the points. TIK's now on 5th place. The national team's now going to Canada and play them in 5 games. So there's a break for 3 weeks in the league now. See ya!

This was taken from tonight's Reading Evening Post:
WHISTLE: WE CAN WIN SUPERLEAGUE
"I think winning the Superleague is a realistic target and I hope all the players have the same ambitions. There are going to be setbacks on the way but hopefully we can ride these and come out on top. The important thing is that every guy in the team is happy. They know we have a good team and that confidence brings out the best in players." The line of Sal, Norm and PC earned special praise. "They play very well together. We've been sending them out with Shayne McCosh and Greg Burke as their defencemen. All five of them are good skaters and they did very well for us at the weekend."
Now, although I'm sure no coach takes his team into the Superleague without believing they have some chance, surely after only two games it's a little early to be saying we can win the league. However, it does strike me as odd the amount of teams that *still* underestimate Bracknell, after three years of causing upsets. The papers have even coined us the league "Bogeymen".

Bees extended their winning streak to a magnificent seven tonight, with a home win over the Sheffield Steelers. Bracknell twice came from behind to beat the Steelers 5-3. The Bees twice came from behind through goals by Barry McKinlay (his first for the club) and Colin Ward. Norm Dezainde and PC Drouin stretched the lead, and this was how it stayed till the last minute. Steelers, in desperation, were forced to pull the keeper, and the resulting play saw them claw back a goal, though Kenny Priestlay. However, with the keeper still off, Colin Ward tucked hom an insurance marker just 11 seconds later. More details can be found here.

In their first league game of the season, Bracknell beat the Riverkings 4-2 in Newcastle. Bracknell's scorers were Norm Dezainde, Rob Stewart, Dennis Burke and PC Drouin. The result puts Bracknell second in the league, although with only one game played this isn't as exciting as it sounds. More details when I have them.
