A volunteer living history unit representing the period of 1630 to 1650 in the Colony of Maryland. The unit (Company or Trained Band) is "headquartered" at Historic St. Mary's City, Maryland, "Ancient and Chief Seat of Government" of Colonial Maryland. The Militia participates in living history there under the auspices of the St. Mary's City commission, an agency of the Maryland Department of Economic and Community Development. The Commission administers the archaeological study, restoration and interpretation of Historic St. Mary's City.
The Militia acts as honor guard for Maryland's governor and other officials at Maryland Day and other ceremonies and celebrations related to the colonial era. The unit also presents tactical demonstrations, participates in historic pageants, and generally supports the living history programs at Historic St. Mary's City. The unit does not represent the Maryland Militia on a particular day in time, or during any single event. The militiamen do attempt to faithfully represent the English citizen soldier during the early years of the Maryland Colony. Some individuals in the unit have researched individuals who lived in 17th-century St. Marie's Citty; and carry the rank or profession of these individuals.

Veterans Reserve Corps
Finally! A re-enactment unit for people who can't participate as soldiers! Based on the actual "Invalid Corps" units from the Civil War, we will be taking part as runners, camp guards, and parade units. Honoring the memory of those gallant souls who didn't let a little thing like age or infirmity keep them from serving.
