Parables and Miracles
1. What is the one key idea of this chapter. Pay attention to the title of the chapter.
The one key idea for me is that the parables relate Jesus vision of the kingdom of God. In the parable of the prodigal son, the father accepts the son, even though he spent all of his inheritence on prostitutes in a foreign country. In the parable of the Good Samaritan, the Samaritan helps the Jewish man, even though he doesnt know him. These parables reveal to me the lessons that Jesus wants me to remember and do in my life.
2. Write about two major ideas you want to remeber. Write a short paragraph on each clearly statingthe idea and then telling why you want to remember it.
a. Jesus performed many miracles during his ministry. Some of his miracles include changing water into wine, raising Lazarus from the dead, and calming a storm. In our society, we have miracles. Whether they are curing diseases or being with someone in a time of need, we have the power to perform miracles just as Jesus did.
b. In the Paschal mystery, Jesus suffered and died greatly on the cross. He suffered to give us light and save us from sin. In our greatest moments of suffering, God is with us. He carries us through our pain and suffering. Through our greatest sorrows, come our greatest joys. The sorrow and pain of Jesus dying was bypassed with his resurrection. Through my greatest pains, I know Jesus is with me and joy will come from it.
3. One image that captures the chapter for you.
4. One significant question that you have from this chapter.
How do I know I have performed a miracle?
