1. What is the one key idea you want to remember from this chapter.
The one key idea I want to remember is that is that Jesus became one of us to teach us how to live in Gods love. God risked his son to save us from sin. In Cesar Chavez, he risked himself and his family to rescue the farm-workers being abused in the fields. Martin Luther-King risked himself and sacrificed himself for civil rights. As a youth in this society, I want to take risks for what I think is right andjust.
2. Write about two major ideas you want to remember. Write a short paragraph on each clearly stating the idea and then telling why you want to remember it.
a. In the Transfiguration, Jesus took some of his disciples up to a mountain to pray. While they were up there, the disciples had a vision inwhich they saw Elijah and Moses talking with Jesus. The disciples were able to see God because they stayed awake. If we are more open to God, then we will be more open to the transforming power of God.
b. In the story of Martha and Mary, Martha is doing all the housework while Mary is listening to the word of Jesus. When Martha criticizes Mary for just sitting there listening, Jesus tells Martha that Mary has taken the better part. What Jesus is saying in this story is that there are many distractions in our society and that we should listen more to God.
3. One image that captures the chapter for you.
4. One significant question that you have from this chapter.
How do I learn to take more risks?
One way that I feel that I could take more risks is to trust more in God. If I believe and have great faith in him, everythin is possible.
