1. The one idea from this chapter is that God called us into a relationship with him. From the promise of land and descendents to Abraham through the death of Jesus, God is calling us to be with him. In the Old Testament, God and the Israelites started their sacred covenant and in the New Testament, Jesus fulfilled the covenant by saving us from our sins by dying on the cross.
2. a. Jesus followers abandoned him at his greatest time of need. Yet, he still picked them as the ones to continue his mission. Through the power of the holy spirit, Jesus was able to give his followers the courage, the strength, and the wisdom to speak Gods word. This was done at Pentecost. The disciples of Christ broke through their hiding and showed their true light as they started preaching Gods word throughout the whole world. If Jesus picked abandoners as the people to continue his misssion, then I think I can continue in his waay even though I have done wrong.
b. The gospels were written between 60 and 100 years after the teachings of Christ. The disciples wrote so long after Jesus time so that they could understand his message and reflect upon his meaning. As each disciple wrote about Jesus in a different way, their words and descriptions changed about him, but the meaning of the stories was the same. Jesus teachings and life were displayed differently, but the messages and meaning were still the same in each version. Even though Christianity has different forms, the message is the same in that we all follow and believe in Christ.
