SUMMARY OF SERVICE
Lieutenant Colonel & Colonel of Regiment.
Was commissioned as Lt. Colonel on 20 May 1862.
Served as such until receiving a commission
from the Governor of Va. as Colonel on 9 February
1863 to replace Colonel J.C. Rathbone who
had been dismissed the U.S. service. He was mustered
out of the U.S. service as Lieutenant Colonel
(to date 8 Feb 63) and mustered in as Colonel (to date 9
Feb 63) on 26 February 1863 at Wheeling, WVA.
Served as such until his death on 19 July 1864
from wounds received in action at Snickers
Ferry Va. on 18 July 1864. Was succeeded in command
by Van H. Bukey.
